How nervous are you about the Bills game?

If we lose this game, we as fans should probably come to grips with the very real possibility that we would be thoroughly in the downswing of a dynasty. Since I don't think that's the case (mainly because I'm of the opinion that Brady is still on top of his game, shoddy O-Line and all) and I expect a thorough blowout of the overrated Bills, I'm not nervous at all.

Fitzpatrick hasn't thrown for 210 yards in a game yet this season. Against the Jets he threw for 195, against the Chiefs he threw for 178, and against the Browns he threw for 208 yards. And except for the Browns' game, he completed less than 50% of his passes in each of his two first games (56.3% and 52.6%), We have been seeing mostly Mr. Hyde this year out of Fitzpatrick.

To me this is the key to the game. Fitzpatrick just hasn't been very good since his rib injury last season. I have friends from Buffalo and they admit Fitzpatrick is bad.

Also, the Bills' running game has been driving their offense so far but with Spiller's injury and Jackson coming off an injury and wearing a knee brace, it will be difficult for the Bills' running game against the Pats. Real refs won't allow the holding that the Ravens' OL got away with.

I like the Pats chances in this game. As the Bills fan wrote above, Pats have the better QB. QB is the most important position IMO.

1.) You obviously haven't watched the Bills play at all. Against the Jets, the word disappointment could apply. Since then, they've got 9 sacks in two games. Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams have looked outstanding. Mario Williams was flat out dominant against the Browns. As was Mark Anderson who even beat Joe Thomas clean off the line for a sack, and has looked even better against the run than he has against the pass. Also, I'm pretty sure he'll be fire up to get a piece of ol' Tommy Boy on Sunday.

2.) Matt Cassell didn't lok even the least bit good against us. This is a "what are you smoking?" type statement. The Chiefs had 3 points on the board with six minutes left, and then Cassell torched the Bills second stringers for two touchdowns in garbage time.

3.) The Patriots have the better QB. The Bills have the better overall team.

I really don't understand the high and mighty attiotude. Yes you've dominated us in the past, but these are two completely different teams and the game is in Buffalo. 38-35 Bills.

As of right now, the Bills have beaten teams with a combined record of 1-5. And the one win came against a team that is 0-3.

I may be wrong about the defense, but you are talking about the Chiefs' offense and the Browns' offense. In three games, Cassel has been sacked 11 times and Weeden 8 times. Yes, the Bills got more than other competitors, but they are both highly sacked QBs. Cassel has 3 TDs (two came vs. the Bills) and 4 INTs for the season. Brandon Weeden has 3 TDs (one came vs. the Bills) and 6 INTs for the season. These are arguably two of the worst QBs in the league right now.

In terms of QB ratings, the Bills have faced the 24th (Sanchez and he had a great game vs. the Bills), 27th (Cassel), and 30th (Weeden) ranked QBs in the league. The QB competition that the Bills have faced is rather mediocre to say the least.

I don't think the Bills are the superior team at all. They may be better in certain areas (much better in some cases), but overall the Pats are the better team.

Also, in terms of defense, the Pats are the 14th ranked defense and the Bills are 17th. The Pats are 10th in points allowed while the Bills are 23rd. The Pats are 12th in third down percentage given up while the Bills are 25th. The Pats are first in the AFC in turnover differential (+4) while the Bills are 4th (+1). And the Pats faced better QBs at least in terms of QB rating (Kolb is 3rd, Flacco is 9th, and Locker is 13th).

With Spiller out and Jackson far less than 100%, I still think the Pats win this one big. If I am wrong, I will admit it. But I think Bills fans are overrating their team.

The Cardinals game reinforced the fact that this is a balanced league. The only team that I'd consider a pretty much automatic win against would be Cleveland, and we don't play them this year. So I think the Bills need to be taken as seriously as anyone on the schedule.

Every team needs to be taken seriously, but I don't think the Bills especially without Spiller and a hobbled Jackson are among the strongest teams on the Pats' schedule. This should be a win, but like every other team on the schedule they are not a guaranteed win by any stretch.

I just think the Pats are coming into this game knowing they could be 3-0 (probably should be 3-0) and going to make a statement here.

The defensive stats for the Bills are skewed because of the Jets game. The Jets were 9 of 9 on third downs headed into the 4th quarter, and they scored 48 points. While you are right about the competition levels, the Bills defense has certainly gelled since the Jets game. Not only did they prepare for a totally different Jets team than the one they saw, but the defensive philosophy was to play off the receivers all game, which allowed the Sanchize to take a two step drop and throw slants all game. This led to no pressure on him all game. The patriots will score, because our corners are very young, and Brady will probably make them look downright awful at points during this game, however, The Bills will put up points too, and don't be surprised if Spiller and Jackson both play. During Spiller's press conference yesterday, you could tell he plans on playing, and Fred is a gamer. They may not be 100% but that's another thing for the Patriots d to worry about (on top of Brandon Spikes blaming God for your loss to the Ravens, Stevie Johnson anyone?).

If Fred and CJ, or even one of them play, I think the Bills pull this one out. If they don't, I expect it to be a very long day for Fitzpatrick, as the Patriots will make him beat them, which he did last year, but that seems like a flukey occurrence.

But as for your comment about a "big win" I really don't understand that since the Bills beat the Patriots last year with a worse team than the one they have now.

Very nervous. This is a big game for the bills as well who are 0-1 in the division. They are at home, they havent allowed a sack on fitz who can light up our secondary like last yr. Even the 2nd bills at home i remember was a struggle in the beginning and we spotted them 2 TDs.
Also our team is young. How will it cope with this pressure of a potential 1-3.? They havent had this kind of early season pressure in ages. So yes ,Iam very worried.

... Fitzpatrick, as the Patriots will make him beat them, which he did last year, but that seems like a flukey occurrence.

It wasn't as much Fitzpatrick as it was Brady's four interceptions, two of which definitely were flukes. Without those, the Bills don't win.

The players need to take the team seriously. As a fan, I don't take the Bills seriously at all. If the Pats lose to them and don't look good doing it, I won't take the Pats seriously at all either. :(

That's the primary reason I say the Pats win big Sunday.
Bills will also be facing a far better 2012 Pats D. I know this has yet to be proven, but Sunday is a good time to show that Monday was more a function of bad 3rd down calls than defensive ineptness.

I disagree the Bills were a worse team than they have now. When the Bills beat the Patriots, they had a QB playing like an elite QB (Fitzpatrick came into Foxboro scoring 7TDs and only 1 INT in two games). Now they have a QB playing like an average to below average QB (he has now 8TDs and 3INTs in three games and three of his TDs came in garbage time vs. the Jets).

Last year at that time (granted it was week three), Fred Jackson was the league's best RB. The Bills could be starting Tashard Choice at RB on Sunday. At best, the Bills start a far less than 100% Jackson or possibly Spiller.

The Bills' defense may be better, but their offense is far worse (at least it should be on Sunday with them potentially down to their third string RB).

The Bills started the season last year 3-0 against better competition than they faced this year.

Also, the Pats may have been looking past the Bills last year. This year, they certainly won with them going into this game with a must win.

I think Arizona is a good team - solid defense, and an offensive weapon or two

I also think much of the "parity" we see this year was referee induced? Lack of continuity of calls, bad calls, no flow to the games, frustrated players & coaches - i think with the return of normalcy, we're going to see some return to normalcy in the game results, too.

You promise to post here again if/when the Patriots ream the Bills on Sunday?

In mentioning the one or two offensive weapons of the Cards, one thing worth mentioning is the Pats held Fitzgerald to 1 catch for 4 yards and the "better" Eagles defense let him get 9 catches for 114 yards and a TD.

If you look at the Bills, they only have only one or two receiving weapons with Spiller gone (Steve Johnson and Scott Chandler). Neither have been all that impressive. You take them away and you shut down their offense with no running game. I think if the Pats take away Johnson like they did with Fitzgerald and the Bills will struggle on offense.

Time to panic a little. Don't care what anybody says, this game is a must win. Patriots have to put these guys away. I will not be feeling good at 1-3. But then again, look at the Saints (0-3), Packers (1-2) and the Steelers (1-2). So we're not alone guys. :)

I expect to see a different Brady this week a Brady fueled by fire and a desire to be the best. The Brady we seen when we lost to the browns or after losing to the giants last year during the regular season. I think we win and win well.

I thought Brady played well against the Ravens.

It will be good to see how the Pats D performs with real refs. Who knows what the score would have been against the Pats without those 3 phantom calls against Mayo, McCourty and Spikes in the Ravens game. I believe the Pats D is better this season but we shall see.

QB - NE, by a country mile
RB - Depends who plays for the Bills
OL - Buf, but ask that again in November and the answer could be different
WR - NE, by a country mile if Welker/Lloyd is the focus
TE - NEm by a country mile
DL - Buf, but not by as much as it should be
LB - NE, by a country mile
DB - Buf

Where New England is better, they're much better. Where Buffalo is better, it's much closer. The key to this game, IMO, is the Buffalo D-line v. the Patriots O-line. If the Patriots O-line can just be decent, the Patriots should win this.
