Pretty inspiring if you ask me.
Anyone see that speech? What a phony. I'm so glad we beat him. I respect him as a football player, but the whole pre-game sh*t, speeches, interviews, it's just this big phony act, especially considering it's coming from a murderer.
If you just look at that as a speech (hold your thoughts about Ray Lewis's past) it's incredibly powerful and right on point.
I think it's almost become his job at this point. He feels responsible to do it. The cameras are always there waiting for him to do it. I think what he said though, whether it was from the heart or not, was definitely wise and the right thing to say. Trying to get them to bounce back and get back to work next season.
I think he's a blessing and a problem for that team though. It's hard for any quarterback to become the leader with Ray Lewis on your team. You should definitely have a leader on defense, but I don't know if they should ever overshadow the quarterback or coach.
I guess it's worked out ok for them so far but I wouldn't want that leadership structure on my team. He definitely filled the role when they didn't have a guy that could take over, but I think Flaco, is their man and could handle that leadership position but he won't get it until Lewis is gone.
Players on his own team think he needs to improve like Ed Reed and you think Flacco is going to be the leader of that team?
Until he wins a SB or at least an AFC Championship,he is not going to be close to being that guy the players look upon.
Joe is a decent QB but he doesn't seem to have that fire and spark you need in a leader...he seems like the kind of guy that you fall asleep in front of when he is talking to you.
I would think Terrell Suggs or Ray Rice will take over Lewis role when he retires....they seem to be the type of players the others wrap thier emotions around.
I want Ray Lewis to replace Pepper Johnson or Pat Graham in the immediate future.
I would pay huge bucks to get that guy on my coaching staff.
Any defense would be better instantly, just by his charisma.
