My thoughts exactly. I have to think there will be some sort of arrangement where only one is on the sideline. And I'm thinking it's BOB ... not a whole lot of this year's offensive players played with Josh.

Also ... I'm going to go out on a limb and say this must be the first time a team has ever added a coordinator who recently ran a record-setting offense to its staff between the regular season and playoffs. hard to imagine it's happened before.

Goodell and the Competition Committee (Pats hater Jeff Fischer still a member!!! WTF?) will move to outlaw this and probably retroactively fine us a draft pick. ;)

The fact he can join immediately is awesome. Didnt expect that!

I don't know about Lloyd. I would rather have Reggie Wayne, who is a free agent.

I don't really know why I feel this way, as I have nothing to quantify my statement, but I just see Lloyd as being a more natural fit within the offense than Wayne. There is no question whatsoever that Wayne has been the better receiver obviously, but I just like Lloyd better within the framework of the NE offense. Maybe I'm saying that because he's been with Josh, though. I don't know.

Anyone else picturing Mangini's face as he learns that one of the prodigal sons is being brought back home?

Not really, because this was two completely different situations:

Ratgini: Left to take a job after BB warned him that it was a bad idea
McDaniels: Specifically groomed by BB during the 2008 season to prepare him to take a HC job in 2009

Neither did I. This is the first time that I've seen anything like this on any level in sports. The guy was just on one of the absolute worst teams in the NFL a week ago. Now, he's going to be coaching on the year's best offenses with a HOF coach and QB in the playoffs. That's just a ridiculous turn of events in one person's life.

This is G R E A T news!!!! Welcome back Josh!

I'm not laughing about this either...is there anything that corporate criminal can do within NFL rules to damage the Pats...again...?

as far as bringing in McD..there is no downside, so I'm guessing there will be hundreds of attempts to INVENT some weirdo sky is falling theories in the next ten days or so.

I'm sure McDaniels is smart enough to know how to defer during the playoffs.

In a gesture of ritual humility, he will be wearing Matt Patricia's beard.

Lloyd has recently had an amazing season in a system that's pretty much the same one as we use here. Aside from that, he is younger than Wayne, has had better recent production and appears to be in better physical condition. Oh, and he'd probably command less money too. Honestly, I can't see a rational reason as to why one would prefer adding Reggie Wayne over Brandon Lloyd to this team.

Would this move have happened if BOB was going to stay as OC going into next year? Would the Pats still have been so interested in bringing Josh back?

Just now on ESPN, said Josh McDaniels is expected to join Pats in next 24 hours and is expected to coach in the playoffs in some role.

Also BOB will stay as well in his usual role.

It is what it is....BB knows best......Can he really coach for us this season tho? Wouldn't think god-dell would allow it....

Always liked Josh and hated to see him go, so happy he's back. He did what any guy would do and he jumped on an opportunity and it just didn't work out for him, glad to see no bridges were burned when he did that.

Josh and BoB combining minds and designing game plans for this playoff run is exciting.

This is great news, it really is.

I don't think so as it easily could have happened in 2010.

Yup. If we've learned anything in recent years it's that, no matter how good a receiver has been in college or the pros, you never know how he'll fit in this offense until they're in it. lloyd greatly diminishes that risk factor.

(I'm assuming that with all the buzz about him on the board, Lloyd is a UFa, yes?)

the Rams also played the Saints, Packers, Giants, Falcons and 49ers, besides the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals

No....I think BB seemed to work well with BOB...and was complimentary of him....

I was thinking BB might offer him a role in the equipment/laundry room, just to show it's all water under the bridge.

Not insignificant is that Josh faced the Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Saints, Packers and SF this year. Surely he will bring his game face.
