Merged again and again: I do/don't like the Moss trade because...

Moss wasn't being a **** at all. He was on his last year of a contract and wanted some job security like any normal person. Its not like he was asking for obscene amounts of money like a lot of other players, he just wanted that extension, which he EARNED during the past few years. He spent three years busting his butt for us and what did he get for it? Ask Mike Vrabel, he got the same thing. And I'm sure Tom's time is coming as well. Maybe not next year but in a couple more, I'd expect to see them try to trade him as well.

Bill likes to trade players that he believes are on the decline. Well, you're on the decline now... Its time for you to go. No one person is above the organization, remember? That includes Bill.

I am curious....what is your idea of "obscene" amounts of money for a 33 year old elite reciever on the decline?

Riddle me this - what has the offense done the past two years that makes you think they could carry this defense into and through the playoff's? Whaaa? Nothing? Exactly.

OMG!!! My star player is gone!!! No more one-handed highlights in a flying elvis costume!!! Oh no!!!!! OMG!!

Even Albert Haynesworth knew how to behave in a contract year.

he got roughly 10M per year for his last 3. Not sure why you are complaining on his behalf.

remember, don't bite the hand that feeds you

Moss has no chance of making the money he would have made had he not behaved like a **** and kept his yap shut. but once again, a relationship with his existing team ends badly. he is 3 for 3 now

I can only assume that you're kidding with this.

Agreed.

And OMG! Tom Brady might get, like, OLD and then they'll *gasp* MOVE ON. NO. We must pay him bazillions. When he's in his forties. Cuz he's cute!

well, think about it for a minute.

for him to get what he would have gotten had he played this year out as a good citizen versus what he stands to get by yapping his way out of town with a team whose OL stinks and has a QB who can no longer make the throws that would have made moss useful. for moss to match what he would have gotten had he been a good boy here means that now his relationship has ended somewhat badly with his 3rd team in a row, at 33 years old, he will have to be lights out in order to have someone justify dealing with the hassle.

in each of the transactions that has had moss move, its not like the world was lining up to obtain his services.

He did well here, but like guests and fish, after 3, the smell had gotten bad.

Moving those goalposts. What a shock.

This offense has done plenty to make me think they can carry the team in the playoffs. Four weeks into the season they've had stretches where they look downright unstoppable. Ironically, the only time they looked below average was the second half of the Jets game when Brady was forcefeeding Moss ....

You're right, we should give millions of dollars to aging vets. Nostalgia is a GREAT thing going forward.

You should be a Redskin fan. Really.

Moss is still the best receiver in the league. We should give money to people who can still play. Heck, we gave money to Seau long after his prime and he barely contributed anything. So we should definitely pay someone like Moss, who is still as amazing as ever. And Vrabel still had plenty left as well.

Bill, on the other hand, has definitely lost a step as a coach as we have seen all season so far. Its time for him to leave before he trades the rest of our good players for 5th or 6th round draft picks.... Hey i bet we could even get a 2nd rounder for Brady!!!

Yeah right, i think we both know they were never going to pay him. Apparently you haven't been a pats fan very long and don't know how it works around here.

Ah-ha! You may be on to something....

People here say that the Pats offense needs LONG, SUSTAINED drives in order to keep the defense OFF the field. People say without Moss playing decoy - this can't happen. People say that without the deep threat, we won't score...

The quick strike 'aint helping teh defense any, folks...and using Randy as a decoy is what made him force the trade issue....

so, what were the Pats supposed to do?

I do truly beleive this offense will surprise you and that the defense will continue to piss you off.

Appropriate move by Belichick....with attitude issues and contract issues it was time to part ways with Moss....it just happened "sooner" than "later" but it was going to happen...

what the hell are you talking about?

if his goal was to make more money, he's doing a lousy job of just like mankins did.

Who says he's the best receiver in the league? Who says he's as amazing as ever? espn! That's who! LOL!!! Go do your homework...please....no gold star for you from your sixth grade history teacher.

Moss is not the best receiver in the league anymore. And that has nothing to do with the fact that he's no longer a Patriot :)

The problems with the offense aren't Randy's fault. The problems with the offense were mainly bad play-calling by the coaches. If you haven't noticed, our offense hasn't been the same since we lost McDaniels.

If you didn't think our current offense was capable of carrying the defense through the playoffs, then what do you think is going to happen now that we have lost our best receiver and a key part of our offense?

The more I think about this, the more my heart sinks. It's like the Patriots decline was just kicked into overdrive.:(

Why another draft pick? Why not trade for an established player!? How many teams would be willing to trade more than a 3rd rounder for a 13td receiver!? Seriously, wtf!

He's reportedly going to get an extension from Minnesota. He wasn't getting one from New England. How's that a lousy job of making more money?

I really don't get the tiny amount of compensation. For all the (he's in the last year of his contract with uncertain cba) argument, the Vikings needed Moss. Farve is sputtering without a deep threat and the Vikes needed to do something drastic to keep themselves afloat before Rice came back. There were 30 other teams BB could've sent Moss too, is anyone willing to be not one of them would've also given up a third rounder?

You sound like a raving lunatic.

I was rooting for Randy as much as anyone but ANYONE could see that the big plays were few and far in between and the discontent was rising. Just look around this board. Randy Moss's EMOTIONS have their own thread.

Bill Belichick has given this team 3 Superbowls and countless division titles (including last year) and playoff appearances, with and without Moss. In our "rebuilding" years, we are still considered contenders. ANY OTHER TEAM wallows in 3-13, 4-12 mediocrity. We have had excellence for so long, and what we have to show for it is SPOILED BRAT fans. It is incredible, it really is.

How many SBs has Randy Moss given you? And please don't tell me every time Brady launched one to Moss these days you expected him to come down with it, because as far as I saw, he only has flashes of brilliance these days. Now that may be just because it's us and he's decided he's had enough. But to pay a load of money to a malcontent who's stirring the pot because of his name and status is the way to sink into decline. A real decline. Not just a disappointing division title and one and done in the playoffs, which is apparently a tragedy to the spoiled rotten "fans" we have around here.

So the fans are spoiled brats for thinking that this trade was a bad move that could have been avoided? Interesting logic.

Your post is every bit as insane as the one you were responding to.
