Law signs with Jets

Think again, Ty Law is not the kind of D back that likes to hit, or get hit.......he'll be killed over the middle.

I always thought of him as a hard hitting physical CB.
The guy was very good at one time.
I can't believe the Jets are going to actualy dress him for Thurs. game.

i lot of people are trashing law here but just yesterday a lot were wondering why he isnt with the pats. if he had signed here , people wouldve said "great addition!" and what not . Lets face it, he makes their team better, not worse.

why not ?you really think he is just going on 3 days practice ? iam sure this deal has been worked our before and he must be upto speed on the playbook and all last week or earlier. its just the official today.

Uhhh....what? Ty was one of the best tackling Corners I have ever seen. He was very physical with receivers and involved in the run game.

Where did you get that impression from?

Let me guess, since Law's with the Jets, he's obviously washed up and sucks, even though we've been clamoring to sign him around here. I get it.

Personally, I was always mixed on bringing Law back at least after the season started. In recent years, his conditioning has fallen off. I wonder what kind of shape he is in without a training camp or preseason.

He is a low risk move for the Jets with the potential for high rewards. I think it will take him a few weeks to over a month to get into game shape no matter what condition he is in, but he could help them down the line. I doubt he will be much of an impact on Thursday night.

It is a good move for the Jets just because they aren't risking much. I'm just not sure what the upside will be.

I never clamored for Ty Law. I assume the guys that wanted him still like him, but I never wanted him and I am fine with him going to the Jets. He's supposed to be a shut down corner, right? I hope they use him to try to shut dwon Moss one-on-one.

Are you sure he's going to play DB? Last time I saw Law I thought he was Gary Brackett. Maybe he's going to be an ILB.

Key words....corner and outside. Absolutely a hitter on the outside, not so much in run stuffing though as I recall.

It was suggested he will play safety / nickle and cover TE or backs coming out, over the middle along with quick, shifty slot receivers. I do not think Ty Law will do well in that role.

How much are they paying this MFer so he can "feed his family"?!

LOL, he is still younger then the Pats avg. line backer.:)

You must be lousy at math.

Vrabel - 33
Thomas - 31
Bruschi - 35
Crable - 23
Mayo - 22
Guyton - 23 (This Friday)
Woods -26

Now, last I looked, Law is 34. Now, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that ONE player who is older than Law and 6 that are younger means that the Pat's avg. linebacker is YOUNGER than Law.

Fact is that the average age of a Pats linebacker is actually: 27.6 years old.

You must have Ty Law confused with someone else. Ty was never a hard hitting physical CB. He's been good in press coverage. And he's a good cover corner. But one of the biggest knocks on him was he didn't like to tackle. He was more of a shover and a bumper and a hit you with his shoulder type guy.

You must have him confused with someone else. Law was never a good tackler as he liked to hit guys with his shoulder low and trip them up. He was physical with the receivers in that he could withstand the bump at the line and he could run with them and not be pushed around, but that's not saying much.

If you say so. I strongly disagree. He was a solid tackler and a decent hitter...much more physical than the majority of CB's in the League in his prime.

I really hope we never see anothe post, about will Ty Law come back, we should sign Ty Law, because guess what, this has been going on since we cut him in 05... He signed with the Jets, in 05 when there was a chance he may come back, when Herm left for Kc, Mangenius cut him, and that summer the pats had money aside, and there was a good chance he was coming back.. He signed with KC.. Now that KC cut him, he was at a Celts game and says Im always a Patriots.. Now half way thru the season that fat tub of goo signs with the jets, and says he wanted to go to a place that he was wanted?? what a joke.. He has become a joke, and I cant wait for the Pats to smoke him on Thurs.. Is Eric Mangini that worried about Matt Cassel throwing bombs to Randy Moss that he has to bring Ty Law off the couch??? The Mangini so worried about Belichick and the Pats is one thing, but having a joke like Ty Law to come in is another...

Ty Law was a great corner for us from 95-03.. He had a super AFC Title game, but we won a super bowl with out Ty Law, we went to a super bowl with out ty law, and we went undefeated with out ty law.. I think we will be ok beating the Jets with Ty Law on Thurs.. And I hope its big...

The circus comes to town......

I just don't understand why the Patriots did not do more to get him

Because he is over the hill.

BB knew his option, was asked about it repeatedly, and said "Thanks for the offer, but no thank you" to Law.

I repeat others' sentiments: please cover Moss!

As far as I'm concerned, Law's signing with the Green Beans shows who/what he is: mercenary for hire to the highest bidder.

So what else is new? It's not as if he hasn't been clear about this or has hidden his need to "feed his family," which must be the size of NY's population.

Cut by the Chiefs and the Dolphins tells you all you need to know.

Perhaps Mangina never even intends to put law on the field. Maybe he only got Law so that we couldn't get him and use him against the Jets, and then maybe cut him a week later? Not sure how all the signing stuff works so maybe thats not plausible to cut him.

I see this as gamesmanship on the part of the Jets, trying to get inside the heads of the Pats. Good strategy against most teams, but you can bet the Pats Coaching Staff and Captains will have stuffed any negative thinking about this by the end of the day today. I doubt that Ty is in playing shape, tho he will probably be familiar with Mangini's system. So, while he will probably help them a bit down the stretch, I can't imagine that he's anything but a psychological factor in Sunday's game.

I live in NYC, and you have to understand how juiced the city is over the Jests since they demolished the Rams on Sunday. Some are fantasizing about a Jets-Gints SB. Bottom line is that the Jets are going to come to the game "sky high." Normally, the Pats would be able to turn that to their advantage in the first quarter, but now they have a QB who's "been there and done that" many times.

The Pats will win, but it's gonna be a war, with the Division going to the Pats if they win.

As for Ty? "You're dead to me. Dead! Do you understand?"

I seriously doubt that Tubby Ratfink would burn a roster spot for that reason only. Besides, it's not like we haven't played against Law in another uniform before. I say bring him on. If anything, I'd think it would be a motivating factor to toast his fat ass.
