Pioli's lousy drafts killing our roster/depth

I was telling these people about LoMo being a BUST last september and about Big SEY being OVERRATED. For some reason people are unwilling to look at LoMo's production and realize it is AVERAGE(at best!) for the #21 overall pick in the draft. If he was a 5th rd pick, than I wouldn't be complaining. However, you waste the #21 pick in the draft on a RB that was NEVER able to carry the whole load in college? You don't draft guys in rd 1 that need to split the load with another RB. I'm sorry. Dallas drafted Barber in Rd #4. He never carried the load full time in college either. You don't draft RB's #21 in the draft unless they are capable of being a HORSE. You can find guys in rd's 3,4, and 5 that can SPLIT the load and give you LoMo's production. Good grief.

Drafting RBs high is ******ed. Unless they're Earl Campbell.

I like "SloMo" as a nickname....or my very own "Dancing Glass". I made that one up. He SUCKS. You get JAG and they do fine. You draft this clown in the first round and he's a dancing piece of glass. Why can't these homers admit that?

What are you talking about?

You claim the team has drafted poorly, but you can't be bothered to come up with even 5 teams who've drafted better, and you don't seem to know what the word "fact" means.

I'm willing to admit that I made a mistake in thinking that Maroney and Jackson were the right choice back in '06. However, getting other people on this board to admit their wrong is a lost cause. Most people on this board don't get how good this team could have been had the Pats drafted better. That is why people like yourself and others are so critical of the personal moves lately. The Pats are able to get away with bad drafts because of the coaching staff and players like Brady, Moss, Welker, Wilfork, Warren and I guess Seymour. I understand that every team has the misses on picks but it's frustrating when it happens to the Pats because they have such a good core of players that have the chance to win a superbowl every year.

Says who, you? NSA has said Maroney is injury prone, Jackson is a bust, Hobbs is a scrub and Seymour is washed up. How is that wrong? Take of the delusional glasses "apple strudel" (oh brother what a name) and wake up!

For the record, I don't think Hobbs is a scrub.

Oh boy, this gets better and better! LOL @ this thread! Now let's make fun of each others' handles! That'll spur conversation! LOL @ the nonsense! I hope you're under 18 at least so you can have some excuse.

Evidence and reasoning makes arguments. There is very little in this thread that supports the OP. If it walks like a troll and talks like a troll....

Stop arguing Deus, you're just ruining their troll ***********...

Then it probably lives under a bridge and eats goats.

This thread is like a troll party lol, they all come (back) out.

Now if we can only capture the trolls who all showed up in this thread, lock them in a box and throw away the key...

2005 NFL DRAFT
1 32(32) Logan Mankins OG Fresno St.
3 20(84) Ellis Hobbs CB Iowa St.
3 37(100) Nick Kaczur OT Toledo
4 32(133) James Sanders S Fresno St.
5 34(170) Ryan Claridge OLB UNLV
7 16(230) Matt Cassel QB Southern Cal
7 41(255) Andy Stokes TE William Penn

Summary: Mankins is a pro-bowler while the rest of this cast is nothing special. In fact, this is the kind of draft that a TON of mediocre franchises produce year after year. Grade: C+

I agree with all the other years but not this one.

Mankins is a Pro Bowler. One of the best Guards in the NFL.

Hobbs is a solid starter and has been very productive on special teams with his kick returns.

Kaczur... a cheap RT who has started a lot of games. He's been servicable. And at a very cheap price. What do you expect from a 3rd round RT?

James Sanders - I'm not a huge fan, but he's getting better. Especially last game he looked like he had alot more swagger than usual. He's an average Safety at this point and still very young. Considering he was a 4th rounder I'd say that was a great pick.

Matt Cassel - Cant stand him and his fake-Brady mannerisms. He's horrible. BUT... some how we've made it work with him and won some games. Can't ask more from a 7th round QB.

Also dont forget it's not like the Pats have been picking in the Top 10 range in those years. They were all late picks.

'06 and '07 were bad drafts, though I think Merriweather could become a very special player which could salvage '07.

But the '05 draft produced FIVE players that are starting for this team right now, how can you dog that draft? You also have to consider that we are drafting in the 20's these years, not an easy draft position.

Haha, how sad. Grown men on the web you say?

LOL! A guy who is posing as multiple users to validate his own lame childish rants is going to make fun of me calling out the stupidity of the 50th time you...ummm.... NSA has posted the same stupid post without anything to back it up other than his own warped, ignorant analysis.

This coming from the guy ignoring the fact I have challenged you to varify that I am NSA with the mods, and if so, I would delete my account. I'm not NSA, nor do I post under any other handles. Check with the mods and the owner of this site.

Btw, would you be honered you have your post hosted in another mans web sig, hahah!!!

Homer, I have Matt Cassel and F because he is horrible. Poor pocket presence, bad throws, poor reads and holds on to the ball way to long.

I gave the D an A ( even though the are sub-par), the running game an A and the coaching an A last night. Last nights win had little to nothing to do with Cassel, he stinks. He managed to get sacked a bunch of times, and not convert on the many chances he had in the red zone. He will never be anything more than a poor NFL starter.

Yes, everyone who thinks you're an idiot who is clueless and has no concept of the game as a whole is ahomer. Fine, I'll take that. I'll also take a former coach and former QB saying that Cassel holding onto the ball and not getting through his checkdowns is a NORMAL part of progression any day. I'll also point out that the RBs and TEs did a horrible job at pass blocking and they led to 4 of the 6 scks that Cassel took last night.

Those are things that you are too inept to understand.

BTW, the Pats didn't convert on only two chances in the red zone last night. One of the reasons was that Ekuban was let in unblocked to sack Cassel. The next one can EASILY be placed on Gaffney not going back for the ball the way a receiver is supposed to. Gaffney stopping allowed Bailey to make the play. Again, how is that Cassel's fault?

Please go away or shut up and learn something from people who understand the game, as a whole, much better than you do.

I'm probably the only one that will say this is actually a good post. It's the truth. BB and Pioli have had some terrible drafts lately. However, I thought trading up for Chad Jackson was a brilliant move at the time. I thought Maroney was going to be an instant star. Aside from Brady, Samuel and Koppen, the Pats have struggled in mid to late round picks. In fact, their are a lot of wasted picks since 2004. Also, the trading out of picks during the draft have irritated a lot fans when the Pats had the chance to take LB's like David Harris or Lamar Woodley who is tearing it up in Pittsburgh. Also, the result of spygate and the loss of that first round pick is already hurting them. They could have had another DB in the backfield right now.

And National Sports Advisors is right, just because you start, doesn't mean your good.

How do you know that David Harris or Lamarr Woodley would have progressed on the Pats the way they have on the Jets and Steelers? Hell, I question whether Harris HAS progressed considering how anemic the Jets defense really is.

Really? How do you know what the Pats could and Couldn't have? You don't. So please stop. There was no spygate. It was Goodell blowing a situation out of proportion. You damn well know that and your being a friggin hypocrite to say otherwise.

sorry, I don't feel like doing that. I don't care about other teams besides the Pats. The facts are, the Pats have had bad drafts.

How can you say they have had bad drafts when you have nothing to compare them to?

Normally, you are a damn good poster. Now, you are just being obtuse for the sake of it. Grow a set of balls and back up your BS.

Jesus, It was just in good fun. Get over yourself. Do you really think I would really care if someone quoted me? I should have put a smiley face next to it to hammer that point home?

If I really cared whether someone quoted me, I would threaten them with copyright infringement if they used my quote without paying me royalties.
