So nothing has changed.
He could not “turn away” a waiver claim. The offers he got were to go on those other teams practice squads.Zappe turned away 7 waiver claims to stay, Bill has let him know in some way that he is wanted here for a role.
If there were a good option available, but I see none that are necessarily more worthy of getting backup reps than ZappeThe team understands it has backup QB issues, just like OT ones.
The right way to handle this early is to bring people in to compete, and improve the position as the year progresses.
Eventually you hit with a JAG, in fact pretty much every year you hit somewhere.
So they will bring in a veteran in hopes it improves this situation, like they brought in JAGS for tackles.
He wasn’t claimed by any teams on waivers. The username doesn't say what you think it does.
Exactly what I said, I'm not jlu52. Pay attention. He wasn’t claimed by any teams on waivers.
Zappe wasn't in demand at all, media spin.
He was so in demand 31 teams refused to sign him to their roster and a few offered him a spot on their practice squad, that's about as far away from demand as you can possibly be.
That's on the verge of being out of the league, also Bill didn't "know what he was doing" he just didn't care if he was claimed or not.
You don't expose anyone you think is valuable to the entire league, he basically said Zappe sucks and the whole league knows it so if no one signs him then we'll stick him on the practice squad and hope to get a better backup and if we can't get one as a last resort we might have to make Zappe the backup again.

Not waiver claims. PS offers. He chose Patriots PS over any one of seven other PS offers.Zappe turned away 7 waiver claims to stay, Bill has let him know in some way that he is wanted here for a role.
I think I read we can start making IR designations at 4 p.m.Still hope the Pats sign a vet backup QB and have Zappe and Malik available to run the scout team depending on what style QB we are seeing that week. And Malik hone his receiving skill. This is a LONG way from over.
BTW- when can we start to announce the IR designations to the "final" 53 to create openings.
I predicted this yesterday, Zapp is on the PS he'll continue to develop.. I believe BB/BOB want a veteran behind Mac.. I know I would with the line concerns..Zappe turned away 7 waiver claims to stay, Bill has let him know in some way that he is wanted here for a role.
You do when you know what you're doing, do your homework, and make your side promises to Zappe before doing it. We'd have been in some deep guano with NO backup QB 10 days before the opener. Bill pulled this off to buy time and got away with it.Zappe wasn't in demand at all, media spin.

Then THAT will be the time when we see some movement on the TE and RB frontsI think I read we can start making IR designations at 4 p.m.
