I read that but athletes routinely dilute samples. I'm not for one minute suggesting Mettenberger has taken substances to expedite his recovery but it has been known to happen. The reasoning given by his management seems straightforward and simple enough to me.

Just to follow this up:

Mettenberger'??s agents Joe Linta and Seth Katz told FOX Sports that the diluted sample was caused by extra water his client was drinking on the advice of his doctor. Linta said Mettenberger had begun to suffer from cramping while rehabilitating from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Linta said he has spoken with NFL teams about the situation and provided medical documentation to Dr. Lawrence Brown, the league'??s advisor for drugs of abuse, alcohol and HIV. The documentation also was provided to FOX Sports.

Any of these cases can be viewed either way. They could be immediately wiped off of our board, or we may get lucky and find good value with them in a round or two later than originally anticipated.

In this specific case with Mettenberger, I do not feel as though it matters. I actually think his name may be cleared within the next day or so, should he be able to prove things. Something tells me that his case may be different than the usual watered down tests, particularly if he had provided documentation beforehand--which is what's now being reported.
