Here's the last chance to make the guesses, since the cuts will be coming in the next 1-2 days. Have at it.

My roster from 8/9 (I went with 51 in the end) :

QB (3) Brady, Mallett, Tebow
RB (4) Ridley, Washington, Vereen, Blount
WR (6) Amendola, Dobson, Edelman, Boyce, Thompkins, Slater
TE (4) Sudfeld, Gronkowski, Fells, Hoomanawanui
C (1) Wendell
G (3) Connolly, Cannon, Mankins
T (3) Vollmer, Solder, Svitek
DE (4) Ninkovich, Benard, Buchanan, Jones
DT (3) Wilfork, Forston, Kelly
ILB(3) Spikes, Fletcher, Beauharnais
OLB(3) Mayo, Hightower, Collins
CB (5) Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole, Talib
SS (2) Wilson, Wilson
FS (3) McCourty, Gregory, Harmon
ST (3) Mesko, Aiken, Gostkowski

I mentioned Francis as an error of ommission later, and considered him on at that point.

I think most of that is still going to play out, but I've got a few I'm wondering about:

  • Fells getting hurt again makes me wonder about him
  • A. Wilson playing even worse than I expected makes me wonder about him
  • Washington/Bolden is less definite in my mind, right now

QB: Brady, Mallett
RB: Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Washington, Bolden
WR: Amendola, Thompkins, Dobson, Boyce, Edelman, Slater
TE: Gronkowski, Ballard, Sudfeld, Hoomanawanui
C: Wendell, Stankiewitch
G: Mankins, Connolly, Cannon
T: Solder, Vollmer, Svitek

DE: Ninkovich, Jones, Francis, Buchanan, Bequette
DT: Wilfork, Kelly, Fortson
LB: Spikes, Flether, Beauharnais, Mayo, Hightower, Collins, Tarpinian
CB: Talib, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole
S: Wilson, Wilson, McCourty, Gregory, Harmon

ST: Gostkowski, Mesko, Aiken

Tarpinian is my last guy. I could also see it being Benard, Ebner, Vellano, or Valone.

My best guess:

QB (3) Brady, Tebow, Mallett
RB (4) Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Bolden
WR (6) Amendola, Dobson, Edelman, Slater, Thompkins, Boyce
TE (4) Ballard, Sudfeld, Hoomanawanui, Gronkowski
C (2) Wendell, Stankiewitch
G (3) Connolly, Cannon, Mankins
T (3) Vollmer, Solder, Svitek
DE (5) Ninkovich, Francis, Benard, Bequette, Jones
DT (4) Wilfork, Kelly, Forston, Vellano
ILB(3) Spikes, Tarpinian, Fletcher
OLB(3) Mayo, Collins, Hightower
CB (5) Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole, Talib
SS (2) Wilson, Ebner
FS (3) McCourty, Gregory, Harmon
ST (3) Aiken, Mesko, Gostkowski

Pretty much agree. I have no idea what's going to happen with Tebow so I'm not going to speculate there.

I'd keep Ballard and his blocking ability over Hooman's ability to do absolutely nothing well.

I think Bequette/Buchanan stick over Francis. I think A. Wilson is a cut. I also think Beauharnais makes it at ILB over Tarpinian/whomever else.

Possible surprise cuts: Benard, Edelman, T.Wilson, Svitek

Possible surprise keepers: Develin, K.Davis (ST), Tebow?!!!??!!!!, Green

Fells, Hoomananawui both cut, they can get an equivalent player for half the money without having to guarantee the salary. I expect another TE to be signed/traded for or for Develin to make it as TE3 for week 1.

Stankiewitch/Kline: They might go for a vet for the 8th spot and let these two develop on the PS.

Ebner to IR

I didn't think Bequette's play was as good as some people made it out to be against the Giants but there's a small chance he makes it. Time to cut Cunnungham loose.

Keep an eye on DT's, TE's and S through waiver/trade.

Tebow/Bolden/Washington

All cut

NYG need RB cover.

Could we trade Bolden to them for a late rd. pick?

For a DT or even DE

They'll be cutting at least 2 who would be better thanthe end of our roster.

One thing I'll say is I don't see Ebner getting released; either he makes the 53 or, based on injuries and the fact he hasn't played at all this pre-season, he goes on IR.

QB (2): Brady, Mallett
RB (5): Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Washington, Develin
WR (6): Amendola, Thompkins, Edelman, Boyce, Dobson, Slater
TE (3): Ballard, Sudfeld, Fells
OL (8): Solder, Mankins, Wendell, Connolly, Vollmer, Cannon, Svitek, Stankiewitch
DE (6): Jones, Ninkovich, Benard, Francis, Buchanan, Bequette
DT (4): Wilfork, Kelly, Forston, Vellano

I actually missed last night's game, but here are my thoughts:

-Tebow had some nice plays last night but that doesn't undermine the other 3.25 preseason games of horrible performance.
-Bolden finally gets cut in one of my projections, but I'm not so sure. I think Develin is better at what he does than Hoomanawanui.
-If Gronkowski is off the PUP, he gets Develin's spot.
-I don't know if Stankiewitch or any other UDFA has earned the 8th OL spot, but there's no other option right now without predicting a FA signing.
-Bequette saved himself last night. Normally a late 4th preseason game surge wouldn't be enough, but this paired with his draft status should keep him around.
-Vellano, like Stankiewitch, is probably just a placeholder for a FA--preferably a NT-type.
-I missed some of the third game and most of last night's, but I'm reading that Adrian Wilson is very unimpressive. I'm keeping him on the roster just in case, but I'd give Ebner his spot if Wilson doesn't make the cut.
-I'd cut Washington, but there's not really anyone else on the roster capable of returning kicks. Edelman is strictly a punt returner.

QB (2) Brady, Mallett
RB (5) Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Washington, Bolden
WR (6) Amendola, Thompkins, Edelman, Dobson, Boyce, Slater
TE (4) Gronkowski, Sudfeld, Ballard, Fells
OL (8) Solder, Mankins, Wendell, Connolly, Vollmer, Cannon, Svitek, Waiver Claim
DE (5) Jones, Ninkovich, Benard, Francis, Buchanan
DT (4) Wilfork, Kelly, Waiver Claim, Waiver Claim
LB(6) Mayo, Spikes, Hightower, Fletcher, Collins, Beauharnais
CB (5) Talib, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole
S (5) McCourty, Gregory, TWilson, Harmon, Ebner
ST (3) Gostkowski, Aiken, Mesko

Comments:

- I think Washington makes the team because they have no viable backup for Vereen. Pats lucked out in 2010 that Woodhead was available when Faulk went down. Washington has enough value on special teams to make it worth the spot.
- Bequette hasn't been consistent enough at this point to earn a spot. But he's the last cut; if someone other than Ebner is injured that I'm unaware of (or Gronk goes on PUP), I think he gets in.
- Adrian Wilson is a tough cut, but if he's not able to blitz effectively and unable to tackle well in running game, not sure what he brings to the table. If Ebner goes on IR, I suspect his position will go to another potential special teamer (Tarpinian? Rivera? Resign Niko?) instead of Wilson.
- Potential practice squaders if not claimed: Winn, Sims, Stankiewitch, Bequette, Forston.

Without putting a lot of thought in to it, here's my guess:

QB (2) Brady, Mallett
RB (5) Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Bolden, Washington
WR (6) Amendola, Thompkins, Dobson, Boyce, Slater, Edelman
TE (4) Gronkowski, Sudfeld, Ballard, Hoomanawanui
OL (8) Solder, Mankins, Wendell, Connolly, Vollmer, Cannon, Svitek, Stankiewitch

DE (5) Jones, Ninkovich, Francis, Benard, Buchanan
DT (4) Wilfork, Kelly, Forston, Vellano
LB (6) Mayo, Spikes, Hightower, Fletcher, Collins, Beauharnais
CB (5) Talib, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole
S (5) McCourty, Gregory, TWilson, Harmon, AWilson

ST (3) Gostkowski, Aiken, Mesko

I left 52 (edit: 51) because I think they'll find someone cut by another team to grab, probably an OL, DL, or TE.

Gronk on the 53 (edit: now obvious with Fells and Ballard gone).

Washington makes it as a KR.

Bolden goes to IR.

DT is really light and I could see Forston being cut and replaced by another team's cut (or two, even).

I think Hooman makes it over Fells because of positional versatility (edit: good call, though I had Ballard originally as well and cuts came as I was posting!).

7 OL makes me nervous, even with the backups having a ton of versatility.

A little surprised that Hooman makes the roster making $1.3 million. Hard to get him to restructure without the leverage of Ballard/Fells as options.

I was just about to hit submit when news of Fells and Ballard broke, so allow me the quick audible if you may...
