Yeah, ones who were good prospects coming out of college. Finally, something we can agree on. Unfortunately, Hoyer has never been considered a good prospect at any time.

I wonder what JaMarcus Russell would be worth in trade, he was the #1 pick! The list of great college prospects who turned into NFL crap is very long.

I don't see how any rational person can dismiss data on the very thing they're interested in because they'd prefer to look at data which might correlate to that thing, seems like the height of stupidity to me.

Anyway, we do NOT agree on anything in this discussion.

If you want to keep your job as a head coach and will wager a 2nd-3rd round pick on a college kid with 0 NFL experience go ahead, I'll wager my job on the guy that looked very good in limited NFL experience, who studied under arguably the best QB and HC EVER!

There have been multiple NFL sources that have identified Hoyer as one of the best available QB's after the Mallet pick. It has been mentioned in multiple articles that GM's regard Belichick's ability to develop a quarterback as second to none, and that even as soon as this September Hoyer was regarded as a better prospect than Kolb given the universal application of the NE scheme. I think that right now the value for Hoyer is 2-3, with a late 2 being the best fit. Sit Brady once you have a bye locked up and advertise Hoyer.

Goddamn, Grid, I think I'm getting my edge back...

I'm no going to comment on Hoyer until he's gone. And, then you'll see what we get for him if we trade him. I'll remind you then. There's a chance we trade Mallett and keep Hoyer as our backup. Because, you guessed it. We can get more for Mallett than Hoyer. Peace out!

You're in fine form, indeed, my friend!!

Walter with a Turkey Day Mock for us. They should have taken the holiday off.

1a Jerel Worthy - DT - Michigan St - Not an upgrade over Kyle Love at all.
1b Chase Minnifield - CB - Virginia - Seems ok. Hate drafting cb's every year.
2a TJ McDonald - S - USC - We could use a FS. Some like him. Some don't.
2b Jeff Fuller - WR - Texas A&M - I watched this kid outplay Patrick Peterson in their bowl game last year. He bulked up too much. In the games I've watched he seems to pout when the ball isn't coming his way. Off my board now.
3 Andre Branch - DE - Clemson - Actually, like him here.

WalterFootball.com: 2012 NFL Mock Draft

My mock with their board would prob be

1a Dontari Poe - DT/DE - Memphis -
1b Mark Barron - S - Alabama
2a Vinny Curry - DE - Marshall - He's not going to last this long
2b Marvin McNutt - WR - Iowa - Former qb who gives us size and speed seems fine.
3 Nigel Bradham - OLB - Florida St - Saw FSU a couple of times earlier and he took some dumb penalties. Played better lately against BC, Miami and Virginia. Looks like he can play that wolb if we need a little more speed. Can slide Mayo inside. Also, plays special teams.

I was really high on Jeff Fuller coming into the season but he has been a complete disapointment. He hasn't shown me any of the things I liked about him from last season and his production has been non-existent. I wouldn't hate it if the Pats took him because I think the talent is still there, but I currently have him as a 5th round pick, and I wouldn't want to see the Pats touch him any earlier than the 4th.

Not sure who he is but someone here liked No. 3 of Arkansas. So. .

That's Joe Adams - WR - Arkansas. Kid is fast and elusive as you can see. Can't wait until tomorrow to see him and Jarius Wright battle Claiborne and Honey Badger. Adams and Wright should both be on our radar late in the 2nd.

I loved this guy last year and thought he was destined to be a first rounder. Funny how things change season to season.

A lot of draftniks have soured on branch. The big clemson dt however could go top 15.

Branch has looked cunningham slow getting off the los and sticks to blockers like super glue. He may not get drafted unless he has a great combine.

Wanted to get a look at Kenny Vaccaro - S - Texas last night. He made an outstanding int on one play covering Jeff Fuller. Jumped up and comes down with one foot in bounds like a wr does. Hard to scout safeties on tv because you just can't see them enough. He didn't appear to get beat on anything though. Texas plays Baylor next week. Maybe we can see him cover a couple of deep balls to Kendal Wright from RG3. One of the posters here is big on Vaccaro and I can see why. Definitely a target in Round 2.

The guy who was all over the place for Texas was Keenan Robinson - OLB - Texas. He was all over the field. He did get 2 personal fouls. One was a late hit on the qb early. Don't mind one of them once in a while and it wasn't malicious. The other was shoving someone out of bounds. Not awful. But, will have to watch that in the NFL. Not sure where he's projected to go. But, looks like a 3-4 olb. Texas defensive front really came on after the first position and dominated the game. Randall looked good too. But, I'm not his biggest fan. Watched him against OU and thought he quit in that game. Aggies qb looked rattled and not his finest day. Tanneyhill. Didn't get much time to throw. But, he did look like the pressure got to him. Fuller didn't do much until their last drive. Craig James kept saying he's had an injured hammy all year and hasn't been himself. Who knows.

The hole Clemson defensive line hasn't been good in weeks. They don't create much pressure let alone sacks. Clemson was ranked 107th in tackles for loss prior to the game against Wake Forrest and I doubt that they've improved much since then.

Another Walter Football 3 round mock from Charlie Cambell here

For the Pats:

1A Michael Floyd WR

1B Ronnell Lewis DE/OLB

2A Robert Lester FS

2B Shea McLellin DE/OLB

3 Ryan Broyles WR

Not my favourite mock, and not what I'd be mocking for the Pats but I wouldn't be overly disappointed if this is how it shakes out on draft day.

CBS Sports has a couple of 1 rounders out. Rang and Reuter. Rang has us taking K. Wright and Nick Perry. Not awful. At least not a T. Reuter has us taking Chase Minnifield and Dontae Hightower. I think Dontae is an ilb in a 3-4. We're ok there. Don't want another cb that early. If we switch back to 3-4. I want 3-4 end who can play the 5 technique and an olb who can can get after the qb. Neither have Vinny Curry in the 1st.

Chase Minnifield is my favorite CB in this draft (I like Claiborne a lot, too, but he's going top 10). I'd be ecstatic to land him. He plays both left and right corner, slot corner, and even safety in certain packages. He knows his defense very well (it's similar to ours, according to Dowling, who picked it up quickly), and consistently earns really high marks from his coach. He's got good size (6' #190) and speed (4.4ish) and excellent cover skills. He plays the run well.

How could you possibly complain about adding a player who would be our best cover guy? McCourty will right the ship eventually, and I still think Dowling can be a factor. Between them and Arrington (and Edelman!), we should have a good secondary next year.

I was going to ask about this. Does anyone see him being able to fulfill a Jermaine Cunningham 3-4 role for us? He's got the size, is a good blitzer and provides obvious excellent cover inside as well - I think he'd be a definite defensive upgrade for us (providing he can play on the outside). And unfortunately, he may be about the only defensive option left for us in the bottom of the first from a 3-4 perspective.

Of those two options, I'd take No2. Actually, just noticed that Rang has Devon Still going no3 to Carolina. I know he's shooting up draft boards but I'm not sure he belongs ahead of Matt Kalil.

I'm starting to like the look of Casey Hayward of Vanderbilt. There's starting to be a bit of a buzz about him on the interwebs.

From GBN:

Casey Hayward, Vanderbilt, 5-11, 190, 4.53, SR … Physical corner who has also played some FS in his career; former high school option QB has started the past 24 straight games and led the SEC with 6 interceptions and 11 other pass breakups last year; aggressive tackler with adequate size has over 120 tackles the past couple of seasons; not super fast, but can jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and can flip hips and turn and run; reads routes well and has excellent ball skills; sees the field well in zone coverage and breaks nicely out of back pedal.

CBS sports has him ranked 131 overall although I'm seeing him go higher than that in drafts.
