Yup, really appreciate a guy like Wes doing that for an injured Soldier. Most kids don't really understand their parents' military careers and deployments, especially when they come home with no legs, but when their dad is on stage with a local NFL superstar saying how his dad is a true hero... outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!!
Also, while I have all my limbs, I know people that don't and I know that is also a huge psychological struggle. Specially with a kid, you no longer are the invinsible superman that every dad wants to be in your kids eyes. It's immensely difficult for a thousand other reasons too, but something like this, just being Wes and showing up helps more than a year in a shrinks office.
I... I just can't describe how happy seeing this makes me.

Very good to see -- sports people DO have a responsibility as role models. And one of the best things they can do is help kids understand what heroism is about.

They sure do.....we ALL do!!

No matter what your political views, guys like U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Michael Downing, are courageous beyond anything words can describe.

It is mind boggling to consider what this guy and countless others have given up for his country and people like me.

Thank you soldier, your son should be very proud of his Dad.

This is so true.

I recall reading years ago Elie Wiesel was asked to throw out the first pitch during one of the games of the world series. Not having much interest in baseball he was ready to turn them down. But his son objected informing the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and a Congressional Gold Medal that there is no higher honor than throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game and the world series is the ultimate honor. So he accepted and took his son to the game.
