A bit was not enough to turn that into some spectacular catch that defied the odds or anything, sorry. That bit may, however, have been enough that the TE would have been just a bit unprepared when Chung hit him, allowing the ball to be jarred loose.

Clueless, completely clueless. Ask yourself this question, do you think reviewing the tape that Belichick critiqued that play as cluelessly as you have? How exactly did he go for the pick? He waited for a pass to fall into his breadbasket instead of taking care of his primary responsibility which is to stop a 30 yd completion from happening right in front of him. I just watched it again and I really don't understand how anyone can watch that play and not be dumbfounded.

I see safeties miss plays on the ball on a regular basis to go for a big hit. It's a terrible decision IMO. You can always make a big hit on a guy who has already caught the ball. At least pay attention enough to know whether you have a play on the ball.

I want the safety to make a decision on what to do based on the situation. That's what the best ones do.

He misread the play because it was a close call. Yeah, he screwed up. That was pretty clear. It was close enough that he should've erred towards the hit. It's not like he was going for a pick on a ball that had no chance of getting through.

That's why I defer to Chung's judgment on what appeared to be a close play. He was there. I was watching on TV.

Look, just stop embarrassing yourself. I'm sure Chung is horrified by his judgement on this play and I'm sure Belichick let him know about it. And, if he plans on sticking around he will have to learn how to play the man and not the ball in such instances.

What the hell is wrong with you? On the one hand you say you agree that he made the wrong decision, then you turn around and say you'll defer to Chung's judgement on how he acted based on what he saw. If he acted properly on what he saw (which was somehow different then what we saw), why would you criticize his actions? And you continue to assume that Chung isn't horrified by his actions on that play (and that Belichick hasn't chastised him accordingly). Like I said before, stop embarrassing yourself and just drop it.
