Would You Have Bill Back If:

TEs - Gronk and Watson.
RB - BJGE, Vereen, White.
OL - Koppen, Mankins, Thuney, Light, Cannon,
I agree with what you're seemingly suggesting, namely that Belichick drafted some terrific offensive players, too. Over his career, he evaluated defensive players really well and he evaluated and chose offensive players reasonably well. There's no denying his offensive player draft choices in the last few years weren't good. But, this growing consensus that Bill could never evaluate talent properly is revisionist history and, quite frankly, BS.

The better question for everyone but the saddest of Bill worshippers is where on the list of disgraceful exits for long-time, legendary coaches does Bill’s flameout rank? I have him at #2 behind Joe Paterno.

As for the geniuses who want the Krafts to sell, how many people to you think are out there who could afford $9 billion to buy the Pats and run the team like a hobby playing in a 25 year old stadium without even the dream of ever getting any public assistance keeping up the current stadium or replacing it? You’ll get your answer over the next couple of years after the Celtics are sold.

Very tough under any circumstances. Virtually impossible when the rest of the roster was in need of a refresh, especially on offense. There were three drivers for Brady leaving, not sure of the rank. 1. Gisele wanted out of New England 2. the roster was aging out and low on talent 3. Brady was sick of BB/RKK lowballing him and forcing him to go year to year on contracts. After Brady left and won in TB RKK blamed BB and that was the end of their working relationship. Who knows what would have happened if TB did not win the super bowl.

In any event BB and Brady are both gone. Wolf and Mayo own this years team and the rebuild going forward. There is no turning back now.
Gisele wanted out for the same reason Brady wanted out. She felt like he wasn't getting respected enough and treated well for what he contributed. And she frankly probably got a lot of that from Tom getting disillusioned himself and bringing it home. It's no secret that a lot of the relationship soured in 2017 with

1. BB wanting to trade Brady and go with Jimmy (would have been a huge mistake)
2. BB making what many players felt was a selfish decision by benching Butler and Brady feeling like he cost him a milestone SB the year he turned 40 and was trying to make a legacy play while playing out of his mind.

The reality is, I think Kraft trusted Bill Belichick enough to keep the franchise upright and competitive post Tom Brady and was willing to allow Bill to end it earlier than he wanted to keep the relationship with Bill strong. Then Bill really looked like he got caught with his pants down making everyone think he was willing to start Stidham as the new guy and then scrambling last minute for Cam. Brady winning the Super Bowl made it worse and really soured Kraft on Bill. 2021 was probably a solid year for everyone. Bill got a QB and everyone thought Mac was looking like the best QB of the class. Then ONCE AGAIN, Kraft let Bill do something no other owner would let their coach do and make Patricia the OC. The whole league mocked the idea. Kraft gave Bill faith. It fell apart and Kraft decided at that point that Bill had been given way too much leeway. Once again Kraft felt Bill Belichick was allowed to make a move that made everyone in New England looks stupid because Bill was allowed to do something that no other coach would be allowed to do. So 2023 became another "sink or swim" year where Kraft decided that Bill picked this team, he wasn't getting do overs, he wasn't getting the cover of starting over with another QB. He had to make it work or not. And it didn't so Kraft decided Bill couldn't have all the control he was granted and couldn't take it away so he moved on.

I’m laughing and imagining you having to type this all out … thanks man …this is the **** that keeps me sane !!! lol
You're very welcome vicspats!!! Your comment made the Carpal Tunnel I suffered totally worth it!

There are many valid points in your post, clearly BB made many decisions that do not stand the test of time. Brady leaving was the right thing for his career and the team needing to start over. The issue that I have with this representation is that it lets RKK off the hook for decisions he made because he has the ability to hide behind BB. We still don't have clarity on a number of questions like Butler, who wanted Mac, spending, etc.. How the team spends money has been much the same with Wolf and Mayo. Selfishly I wish that Brady did not win the super bowl because I believe that led to a lot of ego driven decisions by both BB and RKK that have prevented the team from starting over when it was needed.

Of Course, bring back the gang.

Yea I haven’t gotten the new xp nor think I will. If I had a few peeps to play with I’d think about it. Wasted what 12 years playing it at least rofl.

Would you have Bill back if he agreed to work with a G.M. or G.M. Type like a Scott Pioli (or someone who's a solid evaluator of talent (both Drafting and FA Acquisition's) and who would be responsible for rebuilding the Team/Roster, and bring in a Non-Josh McDaniels/B.O.B new and effective OC (and Offensive Coaching Staff). That Bill just had to be the HC and even be the Classic "Dark Lord of The Sith" B.B. that we came to know and love (and with the understanding that his successor would already be on the new Coaching Staff if that person proves worthy to succeed him). Yes or No? I'm not advocating for one or the other, I'm just curious as to what all of you think on the subject.

Yeah….Bill isn’t ever coming back!!!!!

Yep. I am, after having been a Fan long before Bill and Brady came aboard, extremely thankful for the success the team enjoyed while they were together. I've never been in the "It was Bill" or "It was Brady" Clubs. I'm in the "I'm happy that we had both of them together" Club.

I was in for over half a decade myself. Long story short, life got in the way, but I do cherish the better memories.

It's funny, I endured all those tough years as a fan, and then a few months after moving to Wisconsin before the SB in 2001, and I'm on my knees on the living room floor at a house in Green Bay watching the game winning FG go through the uprights!

I discovered the team by accident (or maybe fate) in December of '85 so I had.the same sort of journey. I didn't end up on my knees, but man what a story that season was.

My late older Brother who was killed in NH a few years ago along with his wife by a drunk guy that ran through a stop sign was so crushed by their loss to the Bears in 85, he didn't eat for a week after that SB. Last month was the Anniversary of him and his wife's death. They were married for over 40 years and had 4 kids. He was 7 years older than me.

I lost a sister to cancer a couple years back myself, another parallel, one I'd rather we didn't have. Sorry for your loss.

I also freely admit that my behavior after that super bowl loss was not one of my shining moments; strange to reflect back over the years and see now how my relationship with the team, along with my fortunate penchant for introspection, actually helped me gain emotional maturity.

BB will be back winning in the NFL in 2025.

Of all the times to reach your first Super Bowl and the Pats drew the best defense in NFL history.

The Bears only loss that season was to the Dolphins because Marino got the ball out so fast that the Bears defense could not touch him.

The Pats got crushed, but Ditka screwed Walter Payton out of scoring a Super Bowl TD because he gave the ball to fata$$ William Perry trying to embarrass the Pats. Ditkas cigar blew up in his face. Also, Ditka hated Buddy Ryan and when the Bears players carried Ryan off the field on their shoulders like he was the HC, it really soured the existing caustic relationship. F them, They have not won 5hit since and have failed to find a QB going on 40 years. Chicago passed on Mahomes. Maybe Willaims is a QB, but with the Bears involved that's 2 strikes against you.

Only if the gf sends nudes my way.

I'm also sorry for your loss. We can look back and be satisfied with the Team since 2001 because we were with the team before they achieved greatness. We've seen the team at its worst and it's best. Most fans, if they live to be 100, would love 6 SB championships in a 20 year span. So, I'll just watch this team and see if they can get pack to a respectable level again, although we shouldn't anticipate anything on a level that we've enjoyed for over 20 years. But, It doesn't have to be to that level to be enjoyable.
