Would You Have Bill Back If:

Have him back? No, not at this point. His time in New England has run its course... The die have been cast, and we've moved on... no point in going backwards now...

However, I wouldn't have fired him at the end of last year either, least not the way it was handled by the Krafts... Bill earned better from them... My approach would have been to work with him to set up a revamped front office... Ultimately, i dont think he would have agreed to such a set up, but I would have made the attempt first...

I think the Krafts did him dirty in the way they handled his departure.... then the follow up hatchet job in The Dynasty... Lessened my opinion of Kraft more than somewhat...
Yep, that hit piece dropped Kraft a few notches with me also. It actually made me more sympathetic to Bill but not enough to want him back. Bill was one of the best HCs but he really left this team in the ****ter on offense. I have no confidence that he could fix the mess he left us.

BB wanted to get fired so Kraft would have to pay him all his money.

I still don't buy that BB wanted Corky and his rigatoni arm to begin with.

No they should of just hired someone like Ben Johnson, the current regime being a disaster doesn’t mean moving on from Bill was wrong by the time the team was ready to contender again he’d be 75 years old.

They blew it but not pairing the young qb with a young offensive mind.
I was hoping for Mike Vrabel for the same reason I like Mayo. They're former Patriot players.

I read somewhere that maybe the owners want more manageable HC's like Mayo than strong willed guys like Vrabel. I could see that being the case with Kraft.

I still think it's too early to claim that the whole regime is a disaster though. They don't have enough players.

Would you have Bill back if he agreed to work with a G.M. or G.M. Type like a Scott Pioli (or someone who's a solid evaluator of talent (both Drafting and FA Acquisition's) and who would be responsible for rebuilding the Team/Roster, and bring in a Non-Josh McDaniels/B.O.B new and effective OC (and Offensive Coaching Staff). That Bill just had to be the HC and even be the Classic "Dark Lord of The Sith" B.B. that we came to know and love (and with the understanding that his successor would already be on the new Coaching Staff if that person proves worthy to succeed him). Yes or No? I'm not advocating for one or the other, I'm just curious as to what all of you think on the subject.

It would look the exact same IMO. So it really made no difference if Bill was here or not. We have no QB, bottom roster = 1-4

I had always been a big defender of Bill, he’s the GOAT, period. But I would have fired him because I didn’t want him having any say over the roster, and he clearly didn’t want Maye
Who knows, Bill may end up being correct about Maye

If Bill wanted to get fired then it worked like a charm. Good riddance to him if he did.

There's no reason to believe that Bill didn't want his buddy Saban's QB.

Draft Corky and then want to trade his axx the following season?

Nah, somebody else made that pick.

Plan A would've been a sit down with Bill and ask him what he needs to get this team back to where it needs to be? Could we get Pioli, John Robinson or Dimetroff back? Can we get a better OC? How does he want to address the QB situation?

It seems Bob was tired of Bill and needed an excuse to let him go because Bob made a huge mistake letting Tom Brady go over an additional year.
Bobs biggest mistake was not acting as the peacemaker between his two superstars. I do believe the relationship needed mending, and it needed attention much earlier than most think, like 2016 earlier. I do not believe it was irrevocably broken, but thats my opinion only. I do not think he did enough to help mend fences. By the time Brady told Bob his decision to leave, it was already too late.

The relationship between RKK and BB soured immediately when Tom did what Tom does, win. I believe, with absolutely nothing to back it up, RKK became covetous of Bradys 7th. That put BB on notice, placed a big ass target on his back, and he could not or would not, depending on your point of view, adapt quickly enough to move the franchise forward. Tough thing to do, replace the greatest player to put on the pads, no?

Ah well... its the past. I choose to remember the good times. No reason to wallow in the bad.

IF you're taking Bill back, then you have to get the other half of his brain out of retirement and bring Ernie back too. Bill without Ernie at this point... it's just too much for him, regardless of how many 24 year olds he's got revamping his image and creating a social media presence.

Nope. Love the man for what he did for us, but that's over. All things end.

Very tough under any circumstances. Virtually impossible when the rest of the roster was in need of a refresh, especially on offense. There were three drivers for Brady leaving, not sure of the rank. 1. Gisele wanted out of New England 2. the roster was aging out and low on talent 3. Brady was sick of BB/RKK lowballing him and forcing him to go year to year on contracts. After Brady left and won in TB RKK blamed BB and that was the end of their working relationship. Who knows what would have happened if TB did not win the super bowl.

In any event BB and Brady are both gone. Wolf and Mayo own this years team and the rebuild going forward. There is no turning back now.

I think the biggest mistake was giving up the franchise tag.

They should have told him before the 2019 season that they had zero intentions on ever letting him go and that they would franchise tag him if he didn't agree to a new deal.

Two chances for Bill to return: 1) Bill would be back the day after Jon Bon Jovi buys the team! 2) Failing that, there would be a snowball fight in Hell everyday for a hundred years!

But hire the guys who worked with (?) him.

Can your left brain function, please?
Hey Princess,

please see my post in the game day thread where I asked if it's too soon to fire the entire coaching staff.

I wanted a complete rebuild, clean ****ing house.

Can your entire brain get at least a single spark going?

Ok, I don't GDT. And when there's 85 pages of emotional brain drain, you have been a pedant to expect anyone to read every post. That's what happens when you assume.

May as well get scar since we are rezzing….
