Yep. You read that RIGHT..

Wolf turned down 11, 23 and a 1st in 2025.

That's the sort of deal that CHANGES teams and the Pats fubared it.

They could have had the QB, WR and OT ALL by 34..

If you think Maye is your next franchise QB, then you turn that deal down 10/10 times.

The Pats obviously didn’t think that highly of McCarthy and quite frankly neither did Minnesota if they were willing to deal three #1s instead of drafting him.

If this report is true, McCarthy was a very low option B plan and the Vikings aren’t exactly jumping for joy over their selection.

The drop off from Maye to McCarthy was huge in the eyes of both the Pats and Vikings.

If this is true the the NO came from Kraft Bob. That's a franchise altering trade. Krafty is in such **** PR right now that he absolutely needed a QB to sell to the fans ..
"Franchise altering????" NO way. We trade the #3 and a chance for a REAL franchise altering pick to get a shot at ONE top tier pick (and at the bottom of that top Tier at best) and likely 2 second tier guys who MIGHT be very good, but certainly not "franchise altering".

Now granted EVERY draft pick has a chance to be a HOFer, but we know that they all have the risk of not even making the roster or to be ineffective even if they do. So lets try this, FC. Come back to this topic in 3 years IF Maye is a bust and feel free to pat yourself on the back and give us all a big "I told you so." AND I will give you a big "winner" comment on your post.

But UNTIL then, please refrain from making ridiculous comments like the one above.

OR…the Pats brain trust feels Maye is the next franchise QB. You don’t trade out of the #3 spot if you see a franchise altering QB there.

Time will tell…

Or could it just be that the Pats organization thinks Maye is the next franchise QB?

This isn't exactly news. We've been talking about a potential Pats Vikings trade since early March.

This was never going to happen. #11 was too far down the board to land a blue chip player. With the exception of Bowers, the quality of player at #11 was no different than that at #23. The only way this trade gets green lit is if the Vikings throw in Jefferson or Darrisaw, was wasn't going to happen

And don't forget, the Vikings wanted multiple mid round picks in return. That cheapens the value.

You're never gonna be competitive without a QB. Especially in the AFC.

Maye projects to be a top 10 guy if he reaches his potential. JJ, Bo and whoever else does not.

So you give him the year to get his playing time in, learn the NFL product and speed, get aquatinted with your program and finish bottom 3-5 again and THEN make this same trade next year.

I question if people are even following how other teams have done it.

We heard this rumor last week. Why are we acting like this is new information.
Yup. In fact, it was assumed by many after the Vikings traded for pick 23 that this would be the starting point offer which was unlikely to be accepted by the patriots.

1. It isn’t 3 first round picks, because they lose 3.
2. Trading out of the top 8 in this draft was a big deal, due to the limits of tier 1 talent.
3. No guarantee that McCarthy or Penix would have been available at 11 and if the Vikings ‘25 first is in the 15-25, they aren’t getting a QB of the future in that range.
4. Breer said after the draft that the Vikings added a couple of pick swaps in this year’s draft that would have favored Minny.
5. The Vikings offered less than SF when they traded for pick 3 in 2021.

Wolf was right to say no.

They got the 49ers offer, except it was two firsts this year and one next year, instead of one a year for three years. So two extra firsts in each case.

Pats take McCarthy at 11, Jordan Morgan/Tyler Guyton or Xavier Legette/Keon Coleman at 23, Ja'Lynn Polk or Patrick Paul at 34

That assumes the JEST didn't return the favor from last year and let, say, Denver trade up to 10 for McCarthy.

They weren’t offering an extra third round pick (which is what Miami got) and, as I also noted, the Vikings were asking for multiple pick swaps this year in the their (the Viking’s) favor.

I'd have traded our next 3 firsts to go to #1 to get Maye if needed. That's how good he is.
Giants and Vikings were only trading up for Maye, they know.

Is this news? We all knew this to be the case and I for one am happy they passed on it.

They turned down 2 first rounders, not three.

Would much rather have Maye than McCarthy
I agree with you. Maye is a first-rounder. Not sure what the overrated McCarthy is.

Pats take Brock Bowers at 11, Xavier Legette at 23, Patrick Paul at 37 (assuming the same trade). Then Spencer Rattler at 68. Not the RG at 103. How embarrassing! How about CB TJ Tampa or RB Will Shipley? Keep Baker at 110.

Now the offense is rolling. Of course gotta still draft Joe Milton as the best qb2 since Steve Young.

Is Milton Mormon?

Yawn. Spilled milk and all that. If our QB turns out to be the guy, no amount of firsts was worth giving that up.

But if not . . . then you took your shot and lost. I’d rather do that, especially if McAdoo and AJP loved the guy than accumulate picks who also might not pan out.
