Will Carroll on Brady's Knee

Well, I don't like what I heard about 10-15 minutes ago from Lee Goldberg who was in Foxboro covering the game.

A Patriots employee told him yelling could be heard from within the Patriots locker room after Brady's injury, and some members of the team believe the injury is serious.

I didn't see anything in today's game that would make me overly worry about missing the playoffs. Cassell played well and the RB's and WR's did also. The OL played a lot better than they did in the pre-season, and the big three up front on the D-line were solid. Heck, even Hobbs played well. He must not have got the memo from the posters here about how lousy he was.

Out of Miami and the Jests, only the latter worry me a bit because of Favre and we having to go down there to play them. However, I still believe that we can win both games without Brady if needs be. That gives him almost 4 weeks to heal up before the SD game.

It's nice, however, to see who all the fair-weather fans are around here.

My guess is that anything short of them telling Brady he could return to the game on the next play would result in him screamingand yelling a lot.

not saying its good news, certainly, but i'm sure brady was pissed. not sure it says anything about the extent of his injury.

Whatever way you all look at it, the Pats are screwed. Brady will be out for a while. Kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Go away troll......you just wish the Pats were done.....but it's not happening.....this team has too much talent and leadership to be effected negatively by one player's injury. Pats will be fine, they might lose a few more than originally planned (or they might not, as Cassell showed good poise today), but they will still win the division......

There is no doubt he has a serious injury because he has proven in his career that he plays through significant injuries that others don't (sports hernia for example). If it wasn't serious he'd have come back in.

I think the only question is how serious it is. 2 Weeks? 4, 6, 8? Season ending?

Garbanza, you sound upset. We all are. Give it a couple days, you'll be ok.

Painful as it is to contemplate a Brady-less Pats team, this roster would still have a lot of talent and a lot of character...and would feel they had a lot to prove. I'm not writing them off, not by a long shot.

I understand this, and I've lost my temper after suffering injuries as well, so it could just be that he's upset over simply getting injured. Goldberg also added something like "it wasn't a pretty scene", and seemed to think it was serious, but hopefully the employee he talked to was incorrect.

I dunno... if you're worried you might have a season-ending injury, even hearing that you've got a sprain and will miss 4-6 weeks would probably be taken as "good news."

If there's yelling in the lockerroom after he's been examined, I think that's a pretty bad sign.

Just when I thought that I'd reevaluated the hold that the Patriots have on my life, and maybe become a bit more reasonable in light of the Super Bowl loss, this happens. I live on the west coast, so this happened at 10:30-11am my time, but you'd better believe that that did not stop me from going and getting aggressively drunk for the rest of the day. Brady had better be okay.

FWIW, my dad played D1 college football, and he suffered a freakishly similar injury to this one. I called him after the game, and he said that his guess is that it was a severely sprained ligament. He said that it kept him out of action for 3 weeks, but it still bothers him to this day. He thinks that they'll be careful with Brady, and that there's a very good chance that he'll be back after the bye. Considering the alternative, that's *great* news as far as I'm concerned.
