By my calculations, Benny needs 72 yards against Miami to reach 1000 for the season.

Correct, but unless he gets 72 yards in a half or in 3 quarters, he is not going to get it.

My guess is key players will only play that much. No stats-padding when it comes to this team.

BJGE almost near 1,000-yard season

I really hope that he accomplish that goal, and i am almost certain that he would have already achieved that goal if he was our main starter during the beginning of the season, Fred Taylor was our main RB back then. He is 72 yards short for that record, not bad for the kid considering that he was our 4th or 5th RB last reason. But i think it might be hard to run over Miami, who is 6th overall in the rushing defense, well unless it snow on Sunday.

Miami is ****. If the Patriots want to the Law Firm will get his 1000 yard season against those pretenders. Foxboro needs to be loud.

Re: BJGE almost near 1,000-yard season

I think he will get it. 72 yards has been about his average since taking over as the feature back.

Re: BJGE almost near 1,000-yard season

I rather him be completely fresh than playing a full game just to get a # that increases what he wants during a contract extension.

He has a week to refresh after the dolphins.

That's true, I remember Deion Branch being pulled on the last game in '05 when he was 5 or 10 yards short of 1k. Then again, we didn't have a bye week that year. It'll be interesting to see how BB approaches this one. I think the last comparable situation was 2004 where we had a bye and a meaningless week 17 game (we came in with the 2 seed clinched, a game behind Pittsburgh, and they had the tiebreak over us so it didn't matter what we did). Can't remember how much the starters played that game.

EDIT: Looking at the box score, Corey Dillon did score a TD early in the 4th. So I wouldn't be suprised if BB treats this like a normal game

I looked up the box score vs SF on Week 17 in 2004 and Rohan Davey played and Dillon ran 14 times.

I would assume that BB will give BJGE an opportunity to get to 1,000.

Maybe Brady plays a series in the 2nd 1/2 but I gotta think he and other key starters on both offense and defense will not play the 4th qtr.

Dillon did have a TD in the 4th quarter though and Brady attempted 30 passes, so maybe the starters were in until the lead was safe. Plus we have the home win streak at stake so I'm not sure how much that will play into it. I think it will be like the Houston game last year where most of the banged up guys rest and everyone else plays.

Yep.....and Brady threw a TD to Branch in the 3rd qtr.

I didn't like the alternating b/t/w Hoyer and Brady last year vs HOU. Hopefully TB will get some reps in and grab some pine for the remainder of the game.

The more I think about it, the more I think they will leave BJGE in until he gets his 1000 yards.

Recall that they did the same for Dillion in '04 so that he could reach a bonus. I am sure BJGE ( as does every other RB) has a bonus clause for reaching the 1k milestone.

The poll is now closed so we're going to see 12 fans who are right.

Benny needs only 72 yards against the Phins to get to the 1,000 yard mark. I'm rooting for him to get it. He works hard and he deserves it. Obviously the gameplan comes first, so his touches may vary, but if he's a couple of yards away in the 4th quarter I think he will get the carry to go over the top.

He had 76 yards on 16 carries vs the Phins in week four. I think he can do it again.

Man i hope he gets it but i dont think we will we see much of him tomorrow

The O-line says "yes."

BJ1kGE - Benny Watch

Apart from the win, this is what I want to see the most.

72 yards to go.

Rush for 7 - 65 to go
Rush for 7 - 58 to go
Rush for 1 - 57 to go

Re: BJ1kGE - Benny Watch

Rush for 7 - 50 to go

Re: BJ1kGE - Benny Watch

Rush for 1 - 49 to go (TD)
