I don’t have a subscription to BSJ but saw Bedard has an article for why the Steelers loss was good for the Patriots. I’m really trying to rack my brain here for why it matters. Does anyone know?

He thinks Tennessee is going to best Kansas City and Baltimore.

I don't see a direct correlation. If we're trying to avoid KC in round 2, then I guess the Titans going into Arrowhead is alot more likely for an upset than Pittsburgh with their QB situation right now.

Absolutely. TEN matches up better, can run the hell out of the rock and can score! PIT can’t do that.

But the Patriots got some good news when it came to potential divisional matchups and, possibly, regaining home field for the AFC Championship.

I honestly don't know how we can regain home field advantage with the Ravens winning today...

So Tennessee could upset KC and then Baltimore? Is that what Bedard is arguing?

We can't.

We need them to be knocked out in their Div game

I believe the thought is that Tennessee can beat KC in the Wild Card round and then beat Baltimore in the Divisional round. That would mean, if the Pats beat the Bills/Texans in the Divisional round, they would be the higher remaining seed for the AFCCG and thus would have home field.

That's a tall order, but I'd say TEN is a good matchup against both of those teams as far as being a team that can run the ball very well.

The chances of Tannehill going into KC and knocking them off AND the Ravens is slim to none...

I know this sounds crazy, but it is possible that the Texans will be a tougher playoff team than the Chiefs this year.

It's possible.

TEN wouldn’t have to. They are the lowest seed (6th). They’d play BAL in the Divisional. If they can run Henry and keep LJ and company off the field, they may have something. BAL’s D isn’t great at all; especially against the run. Tall order though..

So basically click bait then?

It's not crazy. I think KC and Houston are probably pretty close overall right now. Wouldn't even be that shocked if Buffalo stole one win. They're not awful either. Any given (weekend).

What's Fuller's deal? Healthy enough to play?

Huh? As the 6th seed, they would have to knock KC off first...if Bedard's argument is that the Titans have a shot to beat KC, then fine...but his main argument appears to be that Tennessee making the playoffs is going to help us regain HFA. It's possible but highly unlikely the Titans beat the Chiefs and then the Ravens for us to get the AFC championship at Gillette. I can't believe Bedard is even arguing this

Even if they “only” beat the chiefs, it is still a good outcome for the Pats, as it would mean Hou or Buff in the divisional. Titans, of course, are a terrible matchup for the chiefs.
