Only one preseason game but beyond the physical ability which was on full display last night, what BB said about him jumped out at me.
The players that succeed here are the ones that learn quickly, commit it to mental (and muscle) memory, apply it on gameday and work hard. If they do that, their talent takes over.
I dont think he will be a 3 down player here but he will have a role. He will learn that role. He will become comfortable with that role. He will play fast and decisively. They may try to expand it but if he falters, it won't be because he mentally can't grasp the function of the role and the concepts of the defense.
I cannot wait to see this guy progress during the season. He'll help this team no question.
Bill Belichick on Barkevious Mingo: 'I've been impressed with him'
"He worked really hard, took a lot of plays in practice to get somewhat comfortable with what we're doing. It's obviously going to be a work in progress here, it's only been a week, but he's smart, he learns well, and he works hard. So check all those boxes."
You don't have to keep going over the same information with him. Once you give it to him, he has it and then you go on to something else. He has good retention, good instincts, and I think he understands football.
