Why has Bill the GM been so poor the past decade?

Agreed Wise was a hit as well think he was a 4th right? 2015 draft? On Strong I'd put him in the not knowing what to do with list. Because he did make plays in his very limited opportunities. Had he been kept I'd imagine he'd been more productive then ty Montgomery.
Strong is not playing much in Cleveland and they've had RB injuries. I really think he's a bust. I had high hopes for him coming out of college but it was pretty clear he had absolutely no wiggle and he was just a straight line guy.

He said (paraphrasing) in his advanced age he drafted/employed guys he wanted to work with, guys he liked.
That’s not what he said

Yes, I noticed he wasn't playing much in Cleveland as well. So Harris is still on the roster. I'd love to see what he can be with more playing time with rham done for the season. I've always felt in any sport the only way young players get better is by playing.that

Yep that's true. The roster looks more like a hobby of his than an actual NFL caliber roster ready to contend.

Urban Meyer said that Belichick said that he is going to coach players he likes. At the same 2017 Ohio coaches clinic, Belichick himself said he wants players that are “tough, smart, dependable.” Sure sounds like those at the players he enjoys coaching. That doesn’t make for as good of headlines, though.

How about "fast, athletic, game-changing"?

Jordan Richards and Joeslow Williams and N’Keal Harry made for great interviews. That’s how he largely determined this.

The old coot. Got suckered in by his crankiness.

And his lackadaisical approach to fulfilling team needs such as a RT, a developmental LT, replacing Karras after he left, no decent number two TE that can also block, and perhaps most egregious, his lack of getting a third down back.

Bill Parcells did a much, much better job at buying the groceries than BB.

Notice he went out and got a center after bringing in a FA. The year before we were held hostage at the position. His words. ( (Last year it was RT.) That’s the year we had a 280 nose tackle Tim Goad and a center Mike Arthur who was frequently overmatched.

James Ferentz is the like Incredible Hulk compared to this guy.

That was the only playoff victory for Belichick without Brady, the True GOAT. His Cleveland Browns versus the Parcells-led Patriots was in ‘94.

When Pioli and Dimitroff left, the drafting went to ****. Though they did hit home runs in 2010 (McCourty and Gronk) and in 2012 (Jones & Hightower).

The drafting has been **** since 2013.

Absolutely correct. McCourty his career was salvaged in year 2 moving to safety.

Greg Bedard had an interesting take this afternoon. He said if the Patriots had kept Meyers, signed Hopkins and drafted an OT in the first round, this season could've been completely different.
Or perhaps a tackle in the second round or third or both 2nd and 3rd

But it does sound like a strong preference for guy who would buy into the “just do your job” mantra even if it meant passing on skilled, athletic, game changing players. I’m not suggesting fielding a team of athletic players not willing to put in the work, but it does seem BB he could take take good not great p,Ayer’s and just coach them up.
