I don't get cutting Zappe at all. Not that he would ever make a difference in wins/losses, but why leave the team with two rookies as backups?

Drake Maye is either ready to play or not. If he's ready, start him immediately. There's no comparison between Maye and Brissett. If Maye is not ready, don't put him in harms way after the starter has been injured. Maye is the future.

The team can survive with one less jag on the practice squad instead of the team, since no one else would ever be claimed, if they cut the right player. I get what Zappe is, but the most important project is to do what's best for Maye, not be forced to use him.

I would have rather gone with Zappe and used Biscuits salary for offensive line help. If you are going to go young might as well do it all the way. Plus I'm not convinced that Biscuit is better than Zappe.

He is cannon fodder.

He is cannon fodder.

Exactly.

So until the offensive line improves, why make your franchise QB the fodder, if he's not ready for NFL defensive schemes?

Cause he sucks, bunch of Zappes on the street waiting for a job if you need one.

But that bunch of other Zappe's don't know the system or players.

It would take another jag QB a while to be ready to play.

So if they have Brissetts contract what makes you think Wolf would use it? They have 50 million dollars they elected not to use towards improving the O-line.

So true!

Who cares about knowing the system, if you ever got to a stage where you wanted to play Zappe in the 2024 season then winning games isn't a priority so it doesn't matter if you have to drag a guy off the street and play him and he stinks.

I know because Biscuit is a world beater. We need to be thankful he’s such an upgrade- right?
He is starting game 1.

If the Pats win 1 of the first 4 games may as well put Maye in and leave him in.

They probably thought he would be back on the PS. Didn’t happen.

The guy couldn't make the active roster on 31 other teams. That says something. This league doesn't even have 32 starting quality QBs and many teams' back ups are guys who you forgot were even still in the league because they suck so much.

Not sure if he is a system fit either.

I think they knew he was gone when they cut him. I think they will get another veteran on the practice squad more familiar with Van Pelt's offense.

I don't know. I have heard there are a few guys out there, but I don't know who.
Tannehill is still available I think.

The Pats are a 3 win team with or without Zappe. Joe Milton on the other hand, could turn out to be a star! Plus he has more athletic talent in his pinky finger than Zappe has in his whole body!

Keeping Milton over Zappe was such a no braianer!
