Why are ALL our SBs close?

Slow starts, kind’ve like Muhammad Ali in a championship fight, testing, feigning, bobbing, weaving, and trying to spot & attack weaknesses.

I wish they would just attack and kick team’s asses. Also I wish they had more of a killer instinct. Their 2nd half adjustments have been their weakness this year and it scares the **** out of me. Example, the San Diego game, 35-7 lead, and they win 41-28 (outscored 21-6 2nd half). 14-0 vs the Chiefs, win 37-31 in OT (outscored 31-23 in 2nd half & OT). Scares the hell out of me.

I’d love to see them play like they have in the 1st half of this year’s playoff games, ALL game. They seem to not be able to do that. If they did, nobody can beat them and the game wouldn’t be close. That moron Brandt on Good Morning Football said if both teams play their best, the Rams win by 2 TDS. Obviously he didn’t watch the first half of BOTH Pat’s playoff games.

Yeah, remember that as well. Very painful. After winning in Miami, where they had not won in 16 years and getting those first points, I thought the Pats were destined. And then things changed.
We were destined.

Right up until the moment the head coach decided not to start the recovered, healthy and active veteran, experienced, generational quarterback who was the single major reason the team was competitive in the first place, and whose leadership, ability, composure and intellect were absolutely necessary to win what indisputably would be a monumental upset of historic proportions, getting a measure of justice for having the world championship stolen nine years earlier, in a contest in which, as with all colossal match ups, every second counted; and instead started a mediocre, inexperienced, inferior, young sack/interception machine, with a game plan entirely dependent upon the kid somehow morphing into Dan Marino, and the game somehow being transferred to the Orange Bowl at the last minute.

Does your shriveled brain have the ability to recall NE lost both its starting safeties to injury during the game?
Yeah, but those are the only ones were the Pats are not in it!
Most seasons, the old Celtics found themselves in the last seconds of the last minutes of the fourth quarter of the seventh game in the NBA finals, and they won every time.

The league is competitive.

But, to win every year, year after year, takes commitment, character and unselfishness.

That's what we've got, and what local and national media will never understand.

They never got the Celts, and they'll never get the Pats now.

All but two Super Bowls this century (XXXVII, XLVIII) have been decided within 2 scores. So almost all of them are close, it’s not something exclusive to the Patriots....

Most football games are close to begin w. You put 2 of the best against each other for everything & you'll get close games most of the time. Especially when you consider how some might play it safe on the big stage. Not a hard one to figure out.

I think this will be the first superbowl we blowout a team!

I’d love to see a blowout but I’ll take a game like the Chargers one. Within 2 scores but never in doubt.

I think the answer is simple. Either you play against the teams that were strong all year or against an above-average team that gets hot around playoff time.

Not supposed to be any gimmes in January/February

Judging by how this season went maybe that’s not a bad thing...

After winning in Miami, where they had not won in 16 years
You never forget your first time.

...unless you're Bob Kraft.

For him, it was 1997.

You know, I rooted for the Pats, Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox as a kid.

I had know idea who the stupid owner was, and I didn't care.

More time to savor the feeling. Don't forget we are in for about 6 months of no games at all.

Not so. We just have to pick our favorite team to adopt in Bill Polian's Alliance of American Football.

Squish the Fish...

I remember that one too, complete with the destruction of one collectable "Berry the Bears" beefy T.

I think it’s a number of things
1. It’s about feeling out your opponent and seeing what they’re trying to do. The two teams playing in the super bowl don’t see each other much unless they played in the regular season.
2. The other team won 2 or 3 playoff games and they want to come out and play hard also because the super bowl is for all the marbles.
3. Bb and Tom make it seem easier than it really is. It’s very hard to win a super bowl.

I still have it on tape and watch it almost once a year. Love that game. Just love it. Can never really hate Eason because he won that game even though he only threw 12 passes.
Yeah, I didn't have anything against Tony.

But he should NOT have been starting in New Orleans. Or Denver. In '86 AND '88.

Wouldn't say its league parity. It's bad decision making and poor execution. Just got done watching the end of the Carolina Panthers SB, and right when the Pats were about to blow the game open, Brady throws a horrible pass in the end zone. Momentum shifted.

Momentum shift on crucial plays.

It's part of the deal Bill made with the devil, close superbowls in exchange for yearly appearance.
