Who will assume the 81?

What do you mean by this question?

It gets retired of course. Based on all the threads here, he must be unquestionable the greatest player who has ever worn a Patriots uniform. After all, some are questioning if we will ever win a another game now that he is gone.

well.... Considering how his Jersey is only sold by the "custom" option at NFL SHOP. I do not think that would be an issue if he were to switch it.

I like 85 a lot

FYI- I have not seen Hernandez Jerseys in stores.

Ahem. . . .

Hopefully no one. Outside of Moss, 81 hasn't exactly been a presitigious number in the BB era. See: Bethel Johnson, Donald Hayes.

Ahem. . . .

I should have ordered off this site..... ^

I have a White Away Hernandez. So now I have a jersey in all 3.... Blue, White, Alternate.

Maybe if I am lucky gambling this spring and come back 80-100 bucks richer I will definitely look to get this Jersey.

Imo..... Home Blue is the best....

The Alternate color was way misleading...... it looked so much better on the internet than it actually is in real life.

So, what is the tightness level of 81, compared to say... 39?

I like 19, that was keyshawn btw who said 19 is the new 80. Keyshawn Johnson wore that number.

I like Keyshawn..... Some ppl do not.

very good player and a solid analyst imo

I'm surprised that no one has suggested that 81 be retired.

(I hate the concept of retiring jersey numbers)

I guess I'm just an old fart, but I don't follow why anyone over the age of ten would be concerned about how they got number 8x and somebody else got number 8y, or why number 8a looks better than number 8b.

Hopefully nobody wears #81 again in the Brady era, wouldn't want Tom to look downfield, get confused and throw to it instead of a more open receiver.

I agree with this. It was a big part of the record breaking 07 unbeaten regular season and I would not like to see it worn again during Brady's time here.

No love for going out and getting the "real" 81 (T.O.)?:bricks:

And that was definitely a joke. I don't really care, but hopefully it is a good fit for the team.

I'd leave the number open for now, maybe let a TE fill it in time.
