Who said Matt Light is washed up?

Not to take to much away from light. He did well against peppers, but before it makes us forget all the times he's been "lit" up by opposing ends, let's call it the way is it.

They were playing in a bizzard with slippery/wet conditions. It's not like Peppers was able to cleanly jump off the snap in those conditions. He also still got at Tom a few times, but clearly.... Those conditions favor OLine's. Da Bears in general got very little push by their defensive front, with is realistically a combination of good OLine play AND slippery conditions together.

I'm not a hater on Light either, but you gotta be fair in analysis. Light did a good job and is a good Tackle. I'd love to see him resigned, but agree with everyone else here, not until MANKINS is resigned.

Vollmer has never played next to Mankins.

absolutely to mankins.

as for light....I like him and he will be back, but I think both he and vollmer benefit by being next to mankins.

Perhaps you are trying to say that another team will likely be willing to pay more than the patriots. That's usually what folks mean when they say that a player wants to get paid and isn't as good as he thinks he is.

Many have gone, but few have prospered in a different system....

I said he was all washed up for supper.

Vollmer has never played next to Mankins.

Not true. Vollmer played next to Mankins several times in 2009 when Vollmer was subbing in for Matt Light at LT.

Light had "A"bad game earlier in the season and the next day threads popped up that he was all done, like i said at the time Bull sh!t

This line is night and day with Mankins back. It's clear that his presence has helped Matt Light and Dan Koppen be better players.

Matt Light has gotten a lot of help this year from Crumpler and Gronkowski. The Colts game against Freeney springs to mind.

Could Matt Light be back? Yes. Will he? Who knows. BB has a history of letting players go before they are done. But, I'll be honest. I'd rather the Pats draft another OT with one of the top 4 picks. A nasty guy who can run block as good or better than he can pass block and can be on the right side.

Vollmer, in my honest opinion, is better suited for LT than RT, but my opinion and $5 will only get me a hot dog at Gillette.. What matters is what BB and Dante think.

I wouldn't be surprised to see picks at OT, OG, and C in this draft, though center seems to be a very weak position in this draft.

Light has has several bad games earlier this year.. Without Mankins next to him..

With Mankins back, Light has been much better.. But that's just it, it was with MANKINS back.

I don't know about that but then again my memory is not what it used to be. There was one game in particular where Light looked like a turnstile and the next day there were dozens of posters saying he was all done. It was after the Chargers game.

Light is the team's best tackle and Mankins, with Neal's career winding down, is clearly the team's best guard. According to Belichick, Light is also a left tackle only, so the people who still talk about moving him to the right side should just put that out of their minds.

Extend/re-sign Light
Extend/re-sign Mankins
Draft/sign RG
Look to upgrade the backups
Begin looking at the 2012 draft for the LT/RT tackle of the future

Consider that a good offseason with the line

Peppers moved to VOllmer side after a while as Light was just good. I cannot remember when Light got Lit up last. If he plays 65 snaps i am not clear as what is Lit Up means. You mean 10 bad snaps 20 maybe not sure.

Vollmer is becoming a good RT and i think he will be solid. Not sure of draft picks even high finding a OL. Every year so many tackles are drafted even top 10 and seem to be alot of bust. I will alarmed if he let light go and hope a rookie is going to play as well as him or even Vollmer play as good as he had a rough season this year.

Matt has been playing "Lights Out" football, keep it up buddy

I don't know if everyone is drunk on kool aid and feeling all kumbaya but Matt Light is a turnstile. Every hard hit Brady has taken this year is courtesy of him. Resign Mankins, move Vollmer to LT and go find a right tackle. Light sucks.

BTW I wouldn't judge any offensive lineman defending against defensive lineman who can't get traction in the snow.

Ummmmm, not for nothing.

If you are getting beat on 15% (10/65 snaps) to 30% (20/65) of your snaps, then yes.... you are getting "lit up".

Not saying Light gets beat that often, just saying with the numbers you cite... that pretty poor Linemen play. They'd have to bring over TE help in those cases (which happens alot this year in NE).
