who is the competition now?

Afc no one,
Nfc Giants or healthy Seattle.
I really don't get the Giants love from everyone. Green Bay lit them up last year, and they didn't actually get better.

Their defense was quietly very very good

Manning needs to have a good year

To be fair, their defense got attention last year, because the defense the year previous was historically terrible.

Oh my. Such animus. I assume you detected just a hint of facetiousness in my original post. This is not a hill upon which I am willing to die, so indulge this hatred if you must, and you're welcome to it.

My dislike of the midgets is solely directed at their sleazeball ownership.

You obviously have not followed the phony "gates" closely or done any research. Mara was one of the main driving forces behind the Patriots losing 2 1st round picks and a 4th along with the team and the goat coach and QB, who are honorable men, have their names dragged thru the mud,due to his sick jealousy of the Patriots unprecedented success. Meanwhile holding himself up as a pillar of class.

If that doesn't bother you, then I don't know what to say.

That is completely separate from them having any chance whatsoever vs. the 2016 or 2017 Patriots. They didnt/don't. They're not even a top 3 NFC team. If you knew your football, you'd know that. No offense. Just sayin'.

injuries.

afc is a ****ing joke. the steelers are a garbage football team. neutral field, we smoke them by 30!

The GDT All-Stars...

Steelers are a good team but as we saw last year they have no answer for the pats and are not in the pats league.

Its like madden out there when brady plays the steelers

Many like myself expect them to load up before the season starts.

If denver gets a qb they could be dangerous. But that division is a blood bath

All the people they'd load up with are pretty much gone at this point.

they could have a good draft too. TBH, they are not that far away. If they get a top TE like Njoku or Howard (probably gone by pick 20 but you never know), they'll be much better on offense. And their defense is already stout...don't get me wrong, I think we can beat them but I do think they'll be improved. Marshall is already a huge upgrade over victor cruz.

is there any?

who so far has improved?

anyone?

If Denver gets Romo, they are a serious contender.

Baltimore, should they play NE in the playoffs, is always a threat.

Oakland could be a challenge. Young, talented, with a very good QB that we didn't have to deal with this year.

In the NFC, I think the Giants will be much better than they were, and we know the Giants-Pats playoff history.

Seattle is always excellent.

Green Bay is improved - better health, adding Bennett... they're going to be tough.

Atlanta should be good, but I think they'll tail off.

Fortunately, in the NFC, we don't have to worry about all those teams. Just whichever one emerges from their conference (should NE make it to the Super Bowl).

Honestly, I think the biggest single factor in the Patriots winning it all is...health. If they are healthy, they should win it all. They have the best team. If they aren't healthy, they're deep enough to still be very good, but probably not good enough to win it all.

Steelers. They just pulled off the coup of the century by getting rejected by Dont'a Hightower. Just ask Ed Bouchette.

The Falcons will have PTSD for the next 5 years. They are done.

Romo is a walking paper mache. Donks are in the decline

Ravens....meh

Seattle just signed a fat ass RB.

I think its OAK and Pitt in the AFC and GB and DAL in the NFC.

Seattle's D is still excellent, and Wilson is a terrific QB. They'll be really good.

Romo doesn't have to survive the next three years. Just be good NEXT year. Which he very well could be.

I agree that Atlanta may not recover from the Super Bowl disaster, but they have the talent to do so.

Baltimore...we always discount them, but whenever the Pats play them in the playoffs it's an absolute war. Even in NE.

Gads, I totally forgot about Dallas.

Denver is NOT going to be a serious contender. They are a hot pile.

I have a funny feeling SEA is on the verge of collapse.

Romo lighting it up is unlikely.

BAL is always a tough out but they have not been in the same class as NE for 4 years now.

I'm just giving you my opinion. Naturally, I could be wrong.

Clearly NE is the overwhelming favorites at this point. Like I said in my first post in this thread, I think the real competition is injuries. But football is a crazy game.
