who is the competition now?

Yeah. The Giants have their problems, but they're gonna have a great array of receivers, which translates to explosiveness. Explosiveness can lead to defeat for the better team, particularly in a one-game series like the Super Bowl. I hope to see them shoved out of contention during the grind of the regular season, when explosiveness is not quite so valuable.

Nope. I'd rather the Patriots play the Midgets in the SB than anyone else. Patriots would destroy them.

But it won't happen, because the Midgets obviously aren't good enough to even get to the Big Dance. They are small potatoes and a slimy, classless franchise run by the sleazy Mara's. They may have surpassed the Jets as the slimiest team in NY. Mara was so jealous of the Patriots being the flagship of the nfl- he did everything he could to push both cameraplacementgate and defamegate- truth is, mara is a bigger slimeball than goodell. **** them

I'm sure this is going to get a load of dislikes..but we're venturing into the same "we won the offseason" nonsense that usually has us laughing at other teams on an annual basis?

Are we favourite? Absolutely - but when FA hasn't ended and the draft hasn't even taken place, it's far to premature to declare ourselves SB LII champions already...
The difference is that the Pats are the defending Super Bowl CHAMPS. They have already proven it on the field

Let's not forget that one of the strongest teams of 2016 found their QB in the draft.

As it stands, I think Seattle has the best shot. Closely followed by GB. Dallas, Pitt & Baltimore could be factors.
Vegas would agree. The Pats are 4/1. Seattle, Atlanta, GB & Dallas are around 12/1. AFC has Denver and Houston 15/1 as next in line. Both those AFC teams MUST have a QB to have a real shot. Those D's are still tough.

I think the "Big three" hold strong (Pats, Steelers...OAKLAND?!) and we see a new face or two from the AFCS in the postseason. I can see the AFC playoffs shaping up with:

1. Pats
2. Steelers
3. Raiders
4. Titans
5. Dolphins
6. Ravens

If Denver or Texans get a quarterback they could enter the list. Jimmy G. could even make that swing.

Oh my. Such animus. I assume you detected just a hint of facetiousness in my original post. This is not a hill upon which I am willing to die, so indulge this hatred if you must, and you're welcome to it.

Don't start with Kansas City Chiefs BS please.

The difference being that most of the teams that " win the offseason" were trying to go from 6 wins to Super bowl champions. Here you have the super bowl champions themselves who usually lose many players to FA ( as Martellus said, teams overpay for a SB champion) potentially getting stronger through signings and trades and addressing self perceived weaknesses.

We're the far along favorite. The second team in the AFC next year I think will be Oakland.

Chiefs and Steeers have both proven that they cannot beat us.

Ravens and Broncos can beat us if they get home field, but I strongly doubt they'll be good enough to do so.

That only leaves Oakland, as we haven't been tested by them yet since they became good.

Denver if they get Romo
Houston if they get Romo
Raiders

That's it pretty much. Raiders don't have much on D though. Denver is potentially the most dangerous though.

Afc no one,
Nfc Giants or healthy Seattle.

It's strange to see the OP so...so....so confident/****y, it just left me bewildered for a moment. Very unlike him. I'd like to more of that ebullience.

Considering how many times the Dolphins, Bills, Jets, Eagles, Redskins and others won the first week of free agency, we would not be so quick to declare the Patriots champions.

The optimism is certainly understood, but some folks are getting way ahead of themselves.

I don't know this Pats team is a missed XP (or 1 Collins feck up against old man Daniels) from likely having been to the SB the last 3 years. those teams were **** and had to make splashes in FA so there could be some optimism for 6 months before the season started and their fans remembered they do in fact still suck.

If Texans or broncos get a REAL QB,....

The competition is the 2007 New England Patriots of course. This team needs one fewer loss. And will succeed

We really outta be in the Super Bowl barring injuries. AFC is real bad.

AFC is very poor. The only other "good" team is owned by us....

both Denver and Houston will be hot piles next year.

Competition?
