sorry if I offended you about your binky

what Chad Jackson did at the combine is LESS THAN MEANINGLESS in the CONTEXT OF AN ACTUAL NFL GAME. He has shown poor hands during his rare apperances on the field these past two years and BB has set him down for entire games when he's been healthy.

a young draftee who can't stay on the field in his first two years is dogged by "freak" injuries? That's just plain rationalization on your part, to fit your argument. What are you saying, he'll never have a REAL injury, only "freak" injuries? That's beneath idiotic.

As for the lousy footwork and terrible routes... what basis do you have to believe this is the case?

uh...a combination of watching him play in games, listening to subsequent media breakdowns and seeing what the Patriot staff does (or usually, doesn't do)with him on a week to week basis. I can't count the times I've heard from former NFL media that Jackson has terrible sideline awareness and trouble getting two feet inbounds. Maybe you listen to different media outlets. I don't get WCHD.

If Jackson is fit, healthy and raring to go I think it's time we start to see what this kid is made of in some capacity. Who do I want? I really dont know to be honest however right now I'd lean towards Gaffney over Jackson, simply because we have an idea of what Gaffney is about. Anyways I'm chosing too early to pick

We better get #1 sorted first though..

Hardly. I'd just prefer it if you, you know, actually back up your claims rather than making them up out of whole cloth.

I'm saying there's no basis for evidence to determine how good his hands are in an NFL context. His hands were fine in college. Judging by your response, I think I'm right.

Busting your hamstring once does not mean you're injury prone. Tearing your ACL is a freak injury; it doesn't mean you're "injury prone." As far as we know, he was healthy all year, and didn't see the field due to the wealth of riches above him on the depth chart.

Boy, that's certainly vague enough.

The only thing I've heard is that he had trouble picking up the playbook.

Troy Brown- seriously would love to see Troy Brown find the fountain of youth and have a all pro year.

Stallworth or Javon Walker if he's cut. I don't trust Jackson and Gaffney is better served as a #4.

No thanks.

Javon Walker, in addition to not being worth the money he commands, is a grade A turd.

The premise of this thread is wide of the mark.

Wes Welker led the NFL in receptions last year with 112 catches. Clearly Randy Moss and Wes Welker are the Pats top two receivers.

We are talking about who will get the leftovers as the Pats third wide receiver.

While he's the 3rd receiver..it IS important that he be good..otherwise..Moss and Welker and others will have trouble..HAS to be an option..I think it is too soon to say as there might be some player that can be picked up cheaply that will fit the bill.

heh...I get it...you have a Chad Jackson Bighead on your cellar wall in mommy's basement....yeah, I'm sure there will be no more "freak" tears to that ACL, they are always "triple stronger!!!!" after surgery...isn't that right, Doctor Bauer? Drafted in the 2nd round, Jackson didn't see the field because of the "wealth of depth!!!!"...jeezus, that's almost high school girlish...he played in TWO games with NO receptions this season...after being declared healthy in October...that tells me BB and staff had zero confidence in his ability to carry out assignments and be a contributor...but now YOU want to pencil him as the starter opposite Moss for 2008?

Jack Bauer is a fantasy character in a fantasy TV program....makes sense that you'd post these Jackson "fantasies".

Well, this is the type of douchebaggery I would expect from a 14-year-old posting in his mommy's basement.

Donte Stallworth, a WR who is widely considered good enough to be a #1, couldn't crack the starting WR lineup for NE in 2007. What chance would a 2nd year player coming off an injury have? There's nothing wrong with hating on Chad, but please use a little bit of logic.
Also, I am yet to see an actual answer from anyone who says they don't want to see Chad emerge. Seriously, why wouldn't you want the guy with the most potential to reach his potential? Are you stupid?

I have a feeling that Chad Jackson may be traded before the season starts.

I have the exact opposite opinion. Jabar is proven, Chad is not.

100% in agreement - love Jabbar. He has paid his dues, been patient and consistant, comes to play in big games, a true Patriot...

Wolfgang is borderline a GOD. Him and Moss will be tearing it up next year.

yeh Gaffney proved his right at possesion receiver in 07. Wish they could've used more of him in the SB in 4 or 5 WR set.

don't know what season or what team you watched in 2007 but according to NFL.com(you know, the OFFICIAL site of the National Football league), Donte STARTED 9 games at WR for the New England Patriots.

I'm not "hating" on Jackson...I don't "hate on" any player...I've watched his contribution to this team the past two years and I feel the Patriots should have done far better in the 2nd round of the draft than what this player has EVER shown at the NFL level.

Randy Moss. I hope they do resign him, as rumors are indicating, so he can pair with the team's #1 receiver, Wes Welker.

Welker will continue to get open as long as there is somebody outside of him who is a reasonable deep threat. That person doesn't have to be one of the top two or three deep threats, just a good one so they have to play him honestly.

If Jackson makes it to #2 then he has lived up to his potential. Otherwise Gaffney is a good backup plan.

I agree with this 100%. The 3rd option will be Ben Watson.

As for the leftovers I think Faulk will probably garner more catches than our "#2".
