Coples, guys this guy will be a bust trust me. If we move the house for him I would cry

Could you please explain a bit more as to why you think that Coples will be a bust?

I'm very sceptical of players out of UNC:

Quinton Coples - Effort question marks
Zach Brown - All the athletic talent but not the willingness to take on blockers
Dwight Jones - Dropsies
Donte Paige-Moss - Enough said

They don't appear to be a very well trained bunch. All the talent but not the effort to make themselves the best they can be. One only has to look at their piss poor performance in their bowl game. I'd be cautious taking anyone out of UNC this year.

Now this is a guy I want on my team.

Quinton Coples has done everything UNC has ever asked of him. He switched from DE to DT just to help the team and he's a beast at either position.

Someone that makes the qb think about the pass rush, even when there is no pass rush.
If i had to chose i'd rather have a Great Pass rush, they're simply closer to the ball. They can have more of a direct effect.

Players on my list (so far) that can help, and that fit at 27...

DL Brockers
OLB Upshaw
DL Still
WR Floyd
SS Barron
WR Sanu

Brockers is by far my top choice so far, but fat chance he drops to us barring some kind of medical red flag. I think he would make the whole D better.

Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley but unfortunately the former's out of reach and the latter's still in school.

I wouldn't mind poaching off the Texans:

Mario Williams is the easiest name to throw out there. He'd be the key to a hybrid front 7 switching between 3-4 and 4-3 with the same 7 guys. Idk if we have the cap flexibility to do it but I be ecstatic if it happened. Talk about a dominant DLine.

If they decide to pay Super Mario and let Foster is a huge upgrade. How about BGJE and a mid pick for Foster. While RB may not be the biggest area of concern I'm simply answering the ? by the OP. Anyways Foster is a monster who would maximize the versatility of the 2 TE offense.

More realistically the secondary needs an upgrade desperately. If you have 7-9 roster spots being used for these positions:

1. Chung
2. McCourty
3. Dowling
4. Arrington
5. Moore
6. ????
7. ????
8. ????
9. Ihedigbo ????

So it'd be easy for a DB to improve the roster.

- Coby Fleener
- Alameda Ta'amu
- Devon Wylie

I'm somewhat opptimistic about the contributions of Vareen, Ridley and Solder should provide next year. And I like Dowling's talent, but I hate his durability.
I'm not opptimistic that this year's draftees will make much of an impact in 2012 though. That being the case, I think they should look at needs two and three years down the road. I would invest in D-Lineman and one interior G/C. I'd used FA to get CB/S depth and a WR.

Brockers, Upshaw, and Still are all top 15 picks. Floyd is likely off the board around 15-22. Barron and Sanu are reaches for the 1st round (and I LOVE Sanu, but he's a 2nd rounder).

If DE Brockers falls to #16, I suggest we strongly consider trading #31 and #48 to move up and take him, then come back at #27 and take DE Cox. At #63 we can grab OLB Curry.

I'd love to somehow get Calais Campbell, then trade up for Brockers, then get Chandler Jones in the second, plus a big receiver(D.Jones, Criner, Randle) and Ryan Broyles in the 3rd

I'd be all for that. If we leave this draft with either Brockers or Coples I'd be stoked.

What makes you think we need two ends so high?

If Sanu is there are #31 we will take him no doubt, possibly at #27...
