If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

I've listed the QBs that at least have a decent chance of being available after pick 10 or so. So no Darnold or Rosen.

And note this isn't a "pick your favorite" poll; it's a "pick all you want" poll.

Benkert on Day 3 but not to replace Brady

Mayfield, Jackson would be awesome but the Richmond kid probably best fits the system

Luke Falk would be a middle point for me and BB

High picks Allen Mayfield Rudolph Jackson
Mid picks Lauletta White
Late picks Kanoff Woodside and the other rookie with the insane combine who was in the Dolphins profile thing I believe.

Ecstatic: Mayfield.

Happy: Lauletta, Woodside.

Meh: Rudolph, Jackson.

Other: Shimonek.

They might both draft one and bring another UDFA

I know he wont be, but if Lamar Jackson is at 31 then the Pats should take him. I know there will undoubtedly be some people irrational angry about it and I know that I will roll my eyes to the next county if he is and they pass on him

While they could do that, I don't think they've brought in an UDFA QB since Hoyer.

(A) He probably won't be.

(B) I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the fifth-year option is only useful if the Pats expect Brady to play exactly four more years.

RJ (Rudolf Johann) Bergsdorf-Other, 6073/285, out of Northwest Alaska State Technical Institute (NASTI). Best known for being able to throw an accurate pass at speeds approaching 80 mph, and for using that skill to occasionally remove annoying DBs from games by hitting them upside the helmet with his fastball from 10 yards away. Also noted for being so inspired by James Harrison's workout tweets that he once stood still in the pocket and stiff-armed a would-be pass-rusher with one hand while casually flicking a 70-yard TD pass with the other.

Downside: He has no footwork of any kind, and the last coach who attempted to "fix" Bergsdorf-Other's throwing mechanics vanished mysteriously on a hiking trip in the Denali.

If Rosen takes a plummet down tbe draft board say in the 12 to 15 range you have to go up and get him dont you?
I think that would be a genius move if we traded up for a Quarterback of the future.

Not Allen.

Going up to #15 (ARZ) would cost the #31 & #43, leaving the Pats with...
#63 (2nd)
#95 (3rd)
#136 (comp 4th)
- no 5th
#210 (6th)
#219 (7th).

Going up to #12 (BUF - who just traded up to that spot) would cost #31 + #43 + #95, leaving the Pats with ...
#63 (2nd)
- no 3rd
#136 (comp 4th)
- no 5th
#210 (6th)
#219 (7th).

BB & company would need to be damn certain that the difference between what they could get from Rosen versus a guy like Lauletta would be large enough for them to pass on the opportunities to fill out several other roster holes for 2018-2019.

A followup to this thread could be on on value who at which position)

BTW, are you suggesting that Rosen might be available at 11? As we used to say, there is a slim chance, and Slim's in Texas. Seriously, I don't see any of the top 3 leaving the 10 (or likely the top 6). Mayfield might be available, so I suppose that would be a more reasonable the comparison 9and for me the answer is "no", even at 15.

For me, the top 4 QB's are non issues. I could see us moving up to 25 for Belichick's choice if he thought that he could get one of his choices of LT at 31.

Several folks have been suggesting Tanner Lee.

Several folks have been suggesting Tanner Lee.

Like Lee as a gamer. But he has terrible accuracy -- to the tune just north of 50% for his career. He's prone to turnovers, and I just don't see a translatable skill set to pro QB. I do like watching him, though, and reportedly he has the kind of work ethic that would fit in with the team.

LOL! No!!

Chris posted a "what if", and I was responding to that.

I agree that moving up that high for an LT might be more appropriate than moving up for a QB.

You never know, though. There might be a QB that BB is so certain will be the next guy that he'll move up as far as he needs to in order to get him.

I don't see an QB being picked between 7 and 27 except perhaps Mayfield. So, he'd be the only relevant player. As you suggested, it would take likely take more than our first 3 picks to move up to 7 where someone else might be available (or not).

Somewhat tangential to our current exchange of posts ...

While it seems to me marginally possible to reverse-engineer what BB might be looking for in, say, a linebacker - at least to the extent of being able to say, "Well, prospects A, B, C, D, & E probably fit, but prospects X, Y, & Z probably don't" - I confess that I have no real clue as to what BB might prefer among the QBs in this draft. None. Zero. Completely in the dark with a black bag over my head and blindfolded.

I mean, O'Connell, Gutierrz, Cassell, Mallett, JG, Brissett and one of only two guys he deems worthy of being a rookie backup to Brady is UDFA Hoyer?

Anyway, I've totally embraced the fact that I don't know squat about which QB the master may prefer, so I've completely avoided picking any QB that I'd be "OK/happy with drafting" - or, for that matter, any QB I'd be NOT OK/UNhappy with drafting.

I mean, aside from RJ Bergsdorf-Other from Northwest Alaska State Technical Institute. I mean, he's definitely a "winner". AND, he can rush the passer, if need be.
