Brace needs to show that he's a quality early-down LE. The sooner Mike Wright is relegated to subpackages, the better.

Maroney. 1st round pick entering his 5th season and still hasn't shown anything. He better start showing signs and showing them real quick or he's done as a Patriot and might even be done as an NFL player.

Maroney is not Adrian Peterson, but he is an NFL quality player... borderline starter. Had he been drafted late in the second, his performance thus far wouldn't be dissappointing. Unless he has a 1000 yard season, I could see him being resigned by us for a reasonable amount. Especially with Faulk getting up in age, Maroney could end up being very valuable.

Sorry, didn't mean to get OT.

I'm on the other side of this. I'm a big Wright fan, so I'm hoping for him to show that he is capable of starting. I think he could rack up an impressive sack total (8 or 9) and if he's stout against the run we might not miss Ty as much as we should.

Lewis is the only one listed that I think is on the bubble, so for me, it has to be Lewis.

From that list, I say Wheatley. He hasn't shown much at all in 2 years and his time is running out.

It may have run out tonight. That hyperextension didn't look too good.

I'm pulling for this guy - would love to see him be a success story after dealing with so much bad luck.

Guyton, surprise cut. Maroney is the starter and has been Taylor the backup and everyone else is battling.

But he wasn't. He was a first round talent taken in the 1st round who hasn't lived up to expectations in the slightest.

And Wheatley's injury does suck a lot. A healthy Wheatley is a great dime back which is what he'd be. Wilhite is so bad that I'm not sure I even trust him as the dime back, especially against teams like Indy and New Orleans that are deep as can be at receiver.

I'm not a Maroney apologist but his is the youngest player by far at a position that does not age well. I would be stunned if he is cut.

He looked good tonight. Let's hope his progress continues....

Funny though how a feel people are telling the rest to stop the *********** anti-Maroney movement. While he'll make the team, he is still a BIG disappointment. I supported the guy up until 2 years ago. At this point I've given up. He hasn't changed and I'm not confident that he will.

But he's still contributing. That's better than a lot of busts I could name.

If he was drafted in the 4th round, would you be disappointed? Seriously, he's on the team, he's under contract, he's a good RB and has done relatively well for us. His draft position became meaningless the day they signed the contract.

Maroney was the leading rusher on the greatest offense of all time.
Maroney was the leading rusher on the team who ranked 3rd in rush yards amongst the top 16 pass-yard teams in 2009.

What the hell is there to "give up" on? Your demand that he become a pro bowler?

Well Maroney got 0 carries so he didn't really get an opportunity to 'prove' anything. But the lack of touches is concerning. I really doubt he can have the 'breakout season' that Maroney backers have been wishing for when the coach doesn't even put him on the field.

Fred Taylor: 0 carries last night, 11 carries all offseason
Maroney: 0 carries last night, 8 carries all offseason

Are the Patriots going to cut both players?
