Where Does BB Double-Dip in 2014?

For the past handful of years, BB has double dipped at a position (usually different-roles) in the draft. What position will BB double dip at 2014 and what position do you think he should double dip at in 2014? Here is a look at his double-dipping past and possible options this years:

2013 (WR):
Dobson (Wide-out)
Boyce (Slot, KR)
2012 (DE):
Jones (Pass-rusher)
Bequette (Does anyone think he can make this roster in 2014?)
2011 (RB):
Vereen (Pass-catch threat)
Ridley (Premier rusher)
2010 (The year the Belichick drafts improved) (TE):
Rob Gronkowski (blocking, Y)
Aaron Hernandez (F, receiver-like)

In 2014 I'd love for us to double-dip at TE (similar to 2010). With Gronk having horrible luck with health and Hernandez cut minutes after his arrest I say we draft both a Y (Gronk-like) and F (Hernandez-like). This would give us serious depth at TE and bring back our record-setting two TE offense and possibly hurry up that BB didn't use since Peyton stole it. My two favorite TEs available are Amaro in the early second (trade) and Arty Lynch of UGA early on Day 3. Lynch has similar size and skill set of Gronk while Amaro shot up the draft boards this season with his touchdowns and athleticism as a pass-catching threat that can cause serious mismatches with his speed. These two alone would solidify a quality BB-draft for me (OL, DT, DE wouldn't hurt either of course)

I could see him double dipping at a number of positions, especially if he acquires more picks. As you said TE makes a lot of sense, as well as DT, LB, OL and RB. Although most of these I would prefer a high/mid round pick with a later pick, not two mid/high picks like we have seen in the past.

Wouldn't be shocked to see a triple double dip:
DT
DE
TE

In 3 of the last four years he's , at least, double dipped by school: A trible dip with Rutgers last year, nothing in '12, a double dip at TCU in '11 and, of course, Florida in '10.

So here's another question. Where are the double dips by school likely to happen?

Dee Ford and Tre Mason?
Ra'Shede Hageman and Brock Vereen?
ASJ and Bishop Sankey?
Stephon Tuitt and Troy Niklas?

Lots more options.

Interesting you bring that up, I realize the obvious BB connections but never noticed the TCU one (I do now). Out of those I'd really like the Auburn double-dip, however it's unlikely, provides us a star pass-rusher who can rotate with CJ and Nink while Mason can ultimately replace Ridley and make an impact immediately. I'd also like Shazier/Hyde for sure and possibly Nix/Shembo from ND

This is an interesting one also. Some of the ones I like are:

Nix and Niklas from ND
Martin and Grimble from USC (although BB apparently doesn't draft USC players)
Andre Williams and Kevin Pierre-Louis from BC
Daniel McCullers and Rajion Neal from Tennessee
Any combo of Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, Jeremy Hill, Ego Ferguson, Anthony Johnson, JC Copeland and Zach Mettenberger from LSU

A couple of others I could picture:

RB Charles Sims and DE Will Clarke
LB Kevin Pierre-Louis and OT Matt Patchan

I think this is the likeliest of them all.

Louisville have some goodies, especially if we're including UDFA's because Damien Copeland has to be in the running to sign with us with his combine.

Michael Campanaro and Nikita Whitlock is another very possible one.

Fiedorowicz (TE) + Kirksey (LB) - Iowa
Hageman (DT) + Vereen (SS) - Minnesota
Stone (OC) + Fulton (OG) - Tennessee (Belichick specifically mentioned the Tennessee OL in his combine press conference)
Norwood (WR) + McCarron (QB) - Alabama
Campanaro (WR) + Whitlock (DE, LB, FB..bit of everything?)- Wake Forest

All could be double dips from the same College.

Less likely but I like because of the FAs but

Cooks and Crichton from Oregon State.

Kyle Fuller, Antoinie Exum and Logan Thomas from Virginia Tech

Jeremy Hill, Odell Beckham Jr., Ego Ferguson LSU

More possible

Lache Seastrunk, Cyril Richardson and Ahmad Dixon Baylor

In my dreams

Eric Ebron and Kareem Martin North Carolina

OLB Shazier and OT Mewhort of Ohio State. Never doubt the man crush that BB has on Urban Myer.

Position wise, I think BB could double dip, with at least one pick in the first two rounds, on:

1. interior OL - both Connolly and Wendell could be upgraded, and it's probably time to start thinking about replacing Mankins with his salary and unwillingness to take a pay cut, so that's up to 3 starting positions up in the air either now or in the near future.

2. TE - as others have said, there is a need for any and all types of TEs here between Gronk's health issues and lack of a receiving-type complement.

3. WR - it seems like the Patriots have invested a lot of money and draft capital in this position recently, but there isn't a single WR on the roster who looks like a surefire starter for the years to come. Edelman could get his health issues back, Amendola could continue being injured all the time, Dobson+Boyce+KT may not pan out. It's probably not a good idea for the development of the current young receivers to create an even bigger logjam but if the value is there, BB might go for it.

4. DE - I don't really see the pressing need for a DE in the first round but it wouldn't surprise me if they picked both a physical freak DE who could potentially develop into a better player than Ninkovich and one who could immediately serve a sub role.

5. LB - no depth whatsoever, and the jury is still out on whether both Hightower and Collins can develop into full time starters.

DE absolutely #1 unless they expect Buchanan to develop. No depth there at all.

RB would be #2 with both Vereen and Ridley becoming UFA after this year.

I don't see any other viable position double dip possibilities.

I'd like to double dip at LB. This is a deep draft for coverage and pass rush linebackers. I'd be thrilled to come out with Shazier and Adrian Hubbard.

TE has to be a possible double-dip opportunity doesn't it? A Gronk backup and a move TE has to at least be considered.

LB. We lost Spikes and Fletcher in FA. Those guys need to be replaced.

TE would be my guess. Maybe DT.

There is a reason he double-dips; the scout focus on certain areas, this offseason it was TEs and DTs, and they usually make some discovery or two that BB cannot resist come draft time.

Nix, Martin, Niklas and Tuitt from ND!

It would be almost impossible but it could be done.

Trade up in the first to get Martin, then with our first pick Nix, then trade Mallett for an early 2nd and take Tuitt, take Niklas with our 2nd.

I wouldn't mind both Tripp and Coyle from Montana.
