What would you offer Miami for Jason Taylor?

Are you dumb? Petersen's contract is 40.5 over 6 yrs. Which is an average of 6.75 million a year. Also with that he had 17 million in bonus money coming to him as well. With Taylor we don't know how his contract breaks out. Also, with Taylor you can re work his deal. The player coming in at number 7 is going to want more then Petersen got last year. And that contract is basically guarnetted for 5 yrs.

Hahaha, you're calling someone else dumb? Sorry man, but that's all you. If the Pats keep the #7 pick, whoever they draft with it will be more useful to the team, even next year, than Jason Taylor would be. As an added bonus, this player will probably have 6 productive years with the team before becoming a free agent, whereas we would be lucky to get 2 reasonably good years from Taylor. Your proposed trade is just stupid, and the more you defend it the more you go down with the sinking ship.

So you have no idea how rookie contracts work, then, on top of everything else. FYI, calling others stupid when you don't know the basic aspects of what you're talking about is generally a bad idea.

Look at Petersen's contract it clear how much he is getting paid. What are you Scott Pioli? I didn't advise for cutting Colvin, but it's likely, unless he re-dos his contract. Also, AD, Seau, and Bruschi are good enough for me in the middle. They went 18-1 with them this year. With the 7th pick in the draft who is going to impact our team more then Jason Taylor?

Obviously keeping the pick is better for the future. They will get a very good player. But, whom ever they take will not impact their team this year or next year like Jason Taylor would. I want a Super Bowl in 08, and I believe adding Jason Taylor would defintely enhance those chances. In all honesty you maybe be able to get him for a number 2, and the chances of Parcells actually dealing him inside the division is remote at best. Taylor is 33 this year and he has a solid 3-4 years left. His addition to the team would give them a pass russh which they needed badly down the strech, and when he has a hand on the quarterback he gets him down.

Parcells will never trade him to NE unless NE gives up the 7 pick.

then give up the 7th for him. I have no problem with that, seeing that our pass rush was very silent this year. Also you have to look at Rosie too, and his health. Putting Tatlor on one side and Rosie on the other with Wilfork and Seymour in the middle...

I am liking that....

I know I am an idiot, but Taylor would be a welcome addition to this team, and he would not only fit in, but add more leadership to NE

Yeah .. that one.

i would offer them pats1 and a bologna sandwich.

ummm i haven't read any of the responses b/c i have ADD, but how about a 3rd rounder? that sounds good.... maybe a little too low for them.

You do realize the Pats were second in the league in sacks this year? Let's not go overboard. How can our pass rush be very silent if only one other team had more sacks than you? The pass rush slowed down after Colvin went out, but that was in large part because we lost one of our best pass rusher, had AD and Bruschi switch positions, and required Bruschi and Seau to go from rotating in one ILB position to both starting at both ILB positions.

Sorry, this could have been cured with getting more depth at the LB not throwing away a top 10 pick for a LB who has only one or two good years left in him and could very likely retire after this year if he won a Super Bowl.

And no, one Super Bowl win is not worth trading away the #7 pick in the draft considering we were less than a minute from going 19-0 and winning the Super Bowl without Jason Taylor.

I would trade our higher third rounder for Taylor. I don't see the Dolphins doing it. They have plenty of cap room and don't have an urgent need to trade him.

I would trade a third rounder for Taylor, sure. Anything more is too much, IMO, since a 2nd rounder, drafted at a position of need, would have a greater impact on the team than Taylor would anyways.

I believe he could be this year's Randy Moss. His role would likely be more restricted to a situational pass rusher but that is probably best for him and the Pats.
Pats wouldn't even entertain this.......this guy is at the end of his career and is already showing that he is preparing for his exit soon.....Dancing with the stars? What the fu(k?........Seriously, Jason has been a tremendous and dynamic player....but he has maybe 1-2 yrs left before Hollywood calls......let him retire a doofin....

18-1 means 0 to me without a SB. I am not saying JT would have won us the SB, maybe he woulda got Manning on the last play, who the hell knows.

What I am saying that RC on one side and Taylor on the other (BB would find ways to use him from either side I am sure) makes us even better than what we were last year. And for the record there are MANY first, second, third picks that ended up sucking *****. We know what we would get with Taylor.

I respect you opinion, I just think he improves this team.

Why do you keep posting such gibberish? The rookie's contract will be cheaper against the cap this year than Taylor's $7+ million dollar deal, despite your claims. End of story. You were wrong. Admit it and move on.

The rest of your 'argument' is just silliness based upon projections that make no sense at all. Colvin's contract is too expensive, so they should ditch him and bring in a $7 million + contract PLUS squander a #7 pick just to get Taylor?

no way is he worth a 1st rounder he is tooooo old.

i would give a 3rd rounder for him, bring him in and give him a chance to win a ring. Taylor and Thomas at OLB would be sick, cut Colvin and let Vrabel backup and rotate.

Agreed. I'd go a third and sixth or something like that.

There is no question it improves the team NOW to have Jason Taylor. But look at our first round picks.
How many of them do you wish we traded for a guy who could have made us a little better for a year or 2, and would now be long gone?

It is FOOLISH to use high draft picks with TODAY in mind. You end up with no tomorrow. Or, F-it we can just go follow that tremendous Redskins dynasty building plan.

Who cares about a first round pick who will be part of the nucleus of this team for 5+ years, when we can get a guy with a big name who may have 2 years left??????????????

By the way, it we are talking about how to use our resources (picks, cap room) which are finite, to improve the team, why would we want to use priority resources for a guy who plays the same position as Vrabel, Colvin, and Thomas?
The resources are best used at positions that are 'most upgradable' not by bringing in someone with name value at a position we are already very strong at.

I would wait to see if they cut him, or he asks for his release. I suppose a 4th round pick might make sense, but a 3rd or above improves our team more by upgrading a different positon than using to add a 3rd or 4th guy to a spot only 2 guys play at a time.

you could cut an injured Colvin and replace him with an upgrade in Jason Taylor for the same price. Just send over a 3rd.

The second round pick Miami got from SD and their third round pick plus JT for our seventh overall.
Would you be happy with that scenario?

I would be willing to trade the 7th pick for Jason Taylor, that is based upon the fact that we would resign Asante and Randy. The 7th pick won't really happen you win much this year, but Jason Taylor sure would.
One word ......
