What Will Our Offensive Strategy Be ?

You can run out of a spread offense. In fact that may be our most effective run offense. the biggest problem is Williams. He is as good if not better than Big Vince and I don't know if Koppen will be able to handle him one on one.

I would also use Corey as a single back in most formations and Maroney in the slot. When Maroney is the single back, put Kevin in the slot.

But this game will come down to turnovers. The Patriots will have to be +2 in turnovers in order to win.

Corey runs much better with a lead blocker. He had Lorenzo Neal in Cincy. When we started to use Evans as lead blocker, all the negative rushes where Dillon was getting tackled at the hand off in the backfield disappeared and the run game reappeared.

:yeahthat:
You pick your spots to do it in, but you're dead on. Whereas our guys mind the gaps, their guys are sack happy. Just keep in mind "all blitzes are run blitzes," even one-man blitzes like Merriman. Meaning, if all you care about is penetration, there's a good chance you leave a big fat hole in the wrong place by overpursuing, but also a good chance you disrupt something like an end-around too. This would be a good time to drag a counter trey out of yer butt because they'd be likely to commit to the first step.

Dinks and dunks are what's obviously given to NE on a silver platter, and we take those... also, the SD rushing D isn't suffocating enough that we can't you just plain run the ball, whether on the edges or inside... and I think we need to win that battle to double their guessing games. No abandoning the run. Man Law.

I don't think the offense needs to get cute at all, although of course you prepare for the specific defense you're playing.

BTW, SD fans? The sack is pretty much the most overrated stat in football. It's made for preeners. It's a good thing to have happen, but look at the super bowl winners in the last 5 years -- simple enough, 3 of them are the Pats. Bet you won't find a league leader in sacks in that bunch.

Sacks are a high risk, high reward stunt. You want your fair share, but you can't win any league outside a fantasy league if you're not toward the top in stopping points scored (as a defense.)

Just thought I'd throw that in,

PFnV

the idea here is that we are not going to give brady any time to sit in the
pocket. also you are only talking about Merriman.
take a look on the other side of the D line and see who you will be
facing (he is even better).

But thats ok we are only 14-2 / unbeaten at home/ 8 pro bowlers/ 10 wins in a row/at home/
-5 in vegas/ mvp/ #1 in power ratings for last 6 weeks/ total margin of defeat for season - 6 points/
30 points per game/ #1 in sacks

we dont have a chance!

What makes you think we cant run the ball on you? or run the ball just as well as you.

Who is better in the redzone?

We are.

Is head coach BB known for giving up big plays?

no

We are going to march on your a s s then show the sweet science of football.
With a 3 TE formation and the TD pass is not even caught by any of the 3 TE.

If you are going to use your roid monkey linebacker, Maroney will just shift directions and cut back.

we punch, a few hard holes up the middle to bait that roid monkey, no play action just Maroney and cutbacks.

LT is just like manning, just dont give up the big play and force him to work in the redzone.

Spread out the Chargers, go no huddle for the first few series, hopefully get out in front by a couple touchdowns. This takes the ball out of Tomlinson's hands (on the running side of the ball) and forces Rivers to throw more.

After getting the lead, slow it down with a more balanced attack of running and passing.
Well said.

Remember how Brady came back in the Snow Bowl against the Raiders in '01? Pass. Pass. Pass. Let the sack-happy rushers get winded. Grab the lead. Quiet the stadium. Then unleash the running attack with the Chargers on their heels.

It all rests on Brady's shoulders to score.
