What Running Back Do You Want?

Let's just say that the Patriots are going to draft a runningback at some point (not saying they will). Who do you want?

My first choice would be Tony Hunt, then Lorenzo Booker, then Brian Leonard.

Hunt and Bush are the ones I like because we could use a big boy to offset what Maroney brings.

Booker would interest me if they plan to move on from Faulk after 2007 but I don't think that's the case.

Leonard would interest me if Maroney is in trouble for this year with the shoulder thing (I don't think he is but who knows).

Bush isn't a true power back, for sure, but at where I think we could get him (early day two) he's still a guy I like.

Both are pretty powerful and have a different style than Maroney, much more Dillon like. Hadn't heard the comparison to Dayne, but I don't really understand why he busted so fast.

Guys like Irons seem too small, he's only 202 pounds or something.

Maroney and Sammy are roughly the same listed weight. I'd feel better about Maroney's power running if he did more of it. Lots to love about the kid, but pounding for an extra yard has not been one of his strong points to date.

I like Jackie Battle or Garrett Wolfe late, or Lorenzo Booker in the mid-rounds. I don't see the point in wasting a pick on just another running back -- particularly if we're picking a guy just because he's big. Already on the roster we have 250-pound Heath Evans and Sammy Morris, who's definitely a bigger, short-yardage-type back. Booker or Wolfe maybe adds something unusual, some home-run ability, although something tells me they'll never pick Wolfe because he'll never be able to pass-block.

Thinking merely 3rd or later, Booker and Walker are intriguing and I'd be curious how NFL scouts perceive them. I think Walker is especially underestimated. He prolly shoudn't be expected to have a role for an NFL team beyond what Faulk has niched out, but in a similar capacity, I am still confused as to his lack of appreciation. He's like a Buick. Decent polish when new and decent for a few years.

Chris Henry out of Arizona State. Absolutely love his work ethic and I think he is going to be a good contributor to any team that drafts him. What a great interview with him I heard this afternoon. Seems to be have a good head on his shoulders not to mention he has some good size at 6'2 230 pounds. I guess one of the knocks on him is he plays passive,but I've heard that before. I'd take a wager on him in the 4th or 5th.

his size and athletic ability is off the charts, but frankly he didn't do much in college. I don't mean that he didn't get many carries, because I that can be a good thing. What I am talking about is that he didn't do all that much with the carries he did get. Maybe he turns it around in the pros, and turns into the freak h looks like, but that remains to be seen. I would draft him just on his potential, but the cost would have to be low.

This is exactly what all of the profilers write -- because it's so obvious. The Pats scouts have done their homework on him, but it's the coaches who will have a strong say in his evaluation. "Can he play for the Pats?" -- is the ultimate question asked by BB of his evaluators regarding EVERY prospect.

On topic: I'll opt for one of the RBs who had excellent workouts. And/or one of the RBs who's production may have been affected by an injury. Or a RB whose level of competition wasn't the highest (a sleeper). Or a RB whose offense wasn't suited for his skills.

I don't want a RB who was trapped for a loss 32 times and fumbled 6.
