What is Boutte’s trade value?

This is not the way to run a football team.

Running off the WRs you hit on to sign older WRs and trading away draft picks especially when your young guy is on his rookie contract.
I agree
If I am moving a WR it is Hollins and I believe I am selling high on him, or Pop, and I may be selling low on him.
the return in a trade for either is difficult because there is no cost certainty on either past this season

Doubs is also a better move from a team-building point of view.

You grab a younger guy you think has upside and will improve in your system, versus an older guy who has peaked and is likely to decline by the time his contract ends.

Of course if Doubs doesn't improve and Brown doesn't decline then you look kinda dumb, but that's the risk you take.

I think Pats fans are mentally scarred about drafting WRs because of how bad we've been. Other teams won't have the same trepidation about finding WR talent through the draft. Boutte is obviously a solid player, but I don't think he's the budding star type people here make him out to be. He's alright. A guy who should probably be #3 on a good depth chart. Good to have on his rookie deal, probably not ideal to have to pay on his second contract. I don't think teams would give up much for him. Probably a 4th. We shouldn't move him for that.

I think we all value Boutte way higher than the rest of the league. I really want to love him, but mostly because he's a good story. He suffered through the BB doghouse, the Mac Jones slop-house, the Mayo chaos-house, to evolve into a starting caliber WR. BUT - he's only been that because in NE you don't have to be much to play WR lately.
He's had some great highlight moments - but mostly because he's not fast, big, or quick enough to beat guys, and everything is contested. And if AJ comes - they're the same type of player, but AJ is vastly better. Sadly.

I can see them not wanting to pay him open market WR money when they think they might be able to replace him in the draft or with Williams.

Have we dismissed the idea that he might actually have some decent value here?

Very young player with experience. Guy is turning 24 in a few weeks. He is on an expiring contract after 2026, but comes super cheap financially this year. Has shown he has #2 WR potential.

There’s definitely some value in the guy if we do land Brown. He may be a great option for a team financially limited that doesn’t land a receiver in the draft.

I could feel better about giving up a 1 for Brown if we can land a 3 for Boutte.
A guy who's averaged 28 catches and less than 400 yards a season.

If you trade Boutte you don't replace him instantly with a rookie - just look at his rookie year.
His rookie year was because he was an ******* his rookie year. He learned not to be an *******.

Boutte and a 4th for AJ Brown. Done.

Cowboys gave up a 4 for Mingo. Eagles gave a 5 for Wicks. He’s much better than both and very financially cheap for next year.
I don't see that this observation is at all in conflict with my point.

Get the 21st Ranked Player Steve... isn't 21 > 31 in the Draft process. I remember when we Traded up for TE Daniel Graham many moons ago from the Thirties I think.
Again, it it depends on the fith between what we need and what is available. If the swap would improv thteam, do it, but we don't know as we speak who will be available.

Boutte and a 4th for AJ Brown. Done.
I'd do that, but giving especially a 2028 first OR second round pick for him would be absolutely stupid. He's a gimpy old WR with maybe a year of use left in him. All the enthusiasm for the guy is just silly.

Here’s my take ? Even with an expiring contract, Boutte is worth more to this upcoming season Patriots than he’d fetch in a trade.

I’ll echo posters saying ‘keep him’. I think he makes big catches in key spots. And that isn’t nothing. What he’ll get you in a trade will be less than what he brings.

Doubs and Boutte are the same player.

Assuming Boutte stays, I would surmise that Boutte would want a contract like Doubs pending on a better 2026 season that shows his stock is on the rise.

Assuming it happens and he remains healthy = 1200+ yards receiving
