The Bears defense looked like absolute garbage and deserved to lose. Over-rated! That's what you get for playing GB, MIN, and DET twice each.

I hate Delhomme, Smith, Peppers, and pretty much all of Carolina as well, so I guess I don't know who to vote for now.

yea considering the broncos offense couldn't do anything unless it was handed 1st and goal from the one...

shut down

The Bears defense failed because on two plays, their cornerbacks tripped and gave Steve Smith easy touchdown catches.

Why they would twice leave a cornerback one-on-one with Smith without safety help is what was puzzling.

On at least one of those, the CB didn't trip, but was pushed down by Smith (the first one. And they called illegal contact on the CB, rather than Smith. There was contact - between Smith's hands and the CB's back! Apparently if a WR pushes a CB down now, it's illegal contact on the defense.

I agree. It was idiotic IMO to not be doubling Smith, or at least having the safety on his side focused mostly on him. He was half their offense, and they kept having CBs play off him (giving up lots of short passes), and not having safety help. Their coaching staff is at fault there (although the refs blew at least that first TD to Smith IMO, the second could have also been illegal contact on him, although it's more questionable. The first definitely was).
