What Do You''ll Think Brady And Manning Think Of Each Other?

Tommy kind of rolls his eyes at my hatred of Manning. He and Peyton are "friends", but don't necessarily hang out. They talk on occassion. They have respect for each other. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think Payton has any "friend". He never hangs out with his fellow Colts teammate.

According to Edgerring James, the team is, "like the Jackson 5. To everyone on the outside, it looks like we're tight as hell. Then we go home, and it's Jermaine in this room, Tito in that room, and Randy ain't talkin' to no one. When you get up close, it's all dysfunctional."

.

I think Manning thinks "Brady is dreamy". Brady thinks "is he friggin' hitting on me?". But that is just a guess.

in all seriousness, the media glorifies the "friendship."

it's a cordial relationship...I'd compare it to Clinton and Bush Sr. ...yeah, they want to join forces to make the world a better place, and they might even trade phone numbers...but let's get real.

there's a fraternity among the elite NFL QBs. It's like being a member of an exclusive club.

it's not uncommon either. guys hang out in the NFL regardless of team...they can all relate at a certain level (money, lifestyle, profession, etc.)...but below the smiles, there's a burning fire that says, 'I want to rip your friggin throat out.'

they'll trade emails, share a drink, shoot the sht, pose for the cameras, and exchange compliments in public. but don't let the shell of admiration fool you -- it's an empty and tense thing, there's no serious man love here.

on one hand they seem to have a lot in common, but the reality is Peyton was a #1 draft pick, Tom was #199. Peyton's won nothing, Tom's already won three. Peyton's a hick and tom's a "california fruitcake." tom's cool and peyton's weird. A-listers dig tom, and he can bang any and every chick he wants, not so much for peyton.

All of this matters.

a few months ago, Archie was crucifying the media for getting mad at peyton for the "protection problems," but allowing TB to walk out of a media obligation after the Indy game -- if these guys were as close as the media makes them out to be, the dads wouldn't be throwing barbs out there.

the media has put Peyton on Tom's level, for better or worse, and that adds fuel to the fire. This is not on the level of Marino/Montana, Bradshaw/Staubach, Unitas/Starr, or Graham/Layne -- those guys were comparable...they faced off in championships and one-upped each other...Brady/Manning is as one-sided as can be.

because tom's a genuinely good guy, i'd say there's a chance they could get closer after the cleats are hung up for good, but they're too competitive right now.

but the media has made them each out to be the best man at the other's wedding.

Thanks for the insight. I was under the impression that they were friends. But it would make a lot of sense that as competitive as these guys both are, underneath there's gonna be a lot of tension.

Especially since Peyton must REALLY be under the scope, having as much talent as he does, but coming up empty year after year. He probably secretly resents Brady a bit.

They are friends, the elite among quarterbacks. The rest is projection of feelings of those for whom all non-patriots are the enemy (to be hated and ridiculed), and Manning is the special enemy since he is feared the most among enemies. I suggest that if we had more confidence in our own team, we would have more respect for others. Only in New England can you here that Marino and Elway and now Manning are not among the best quarterbacks ever.

For me, I am most proud of the 2004 team, who played all the top teams, and beat them, with few cliffhangers. I feel BETTER when I realize just how great some of the teams we played were.

I understand that it is different for those brought up as Red Sox fans. They win once every 100 years and grouse the rest of the time. And they spend their time hating the ever-champion Yankees, who win somewhat more often. It is a Boston tradition to hate those of other teams.

just my 2 cents

And BTW, this is not criticism. People can choose to handle competition, success and adversity as they wish.

I don't how close they are but they are definitely friendly. I heard a few months ago they were doing some kind of tour together to raise awareness for a cause (which I can't remember at the moment).

Honestly, I doubt they think of eachother anything like they are perceived in the media. They probably just think of eachother as colleagues and competitors.

I guess the tour to raise awareness for a cause wasnt very successful since you cant remember the cause, huh?

IMO they respect each other.

like it should be.
