Wendell Still Among The Missing

When I was re-watching the game on NFL Gamepass when they showed the pictures of the offensive lineman I was shocked to see Wendell listed as the starting Right Guard, I thought "What!". I hurriedly checked the snap count to verify that he hadn't played. Anyone else notice that error? It seems strange that the network broadcast would list a player in the starting lineup when they aren't active.

Yes, I thought Wendell had got over his illness and was actually going to play but then I thought, wasn't he listed as out? Was a bit confusing there for a few minutes. I didn't think of it again until I saw your post.

Who knows but I feel like Two weeks with an illness is unusual.

Are you a teenager? Two weeks with an illness is unusual?

Are you a patriot fan? Two weeks without medical information from Belichick is unusual?

Not sure why you are personally attacking that poster.

Two weeks with an illness (not an injury) for an NFL football player in 2015 is, indeed, unusual.

And that poster never wrote anything about BB giving out, or not giving out, medical information. So you are manufacturing arguments there out of blue air.

So, if you don't mind, go ahead and argue the point, without the unwarranted personal attacks.

I have NFL Gamepass but I haven't purchased the "ALL-22" coaches film thing, so sometimes I have trouble figuring out how exactly who is playing on the OL until I get the Snap Count from somebody like Reiss or Patspulpit. I thought that maybe Wendell had played a few snaps when I saw him listed as a starter.

The other thing that I didn't realize until I got the snap count was that Josh Kline played all 86 offensive snaps next to Andrews, I figured that Mason and Jackson would be getting most of the snaps, BB must have more faith in Kline than I realized.

2 weeks with an illness with no information is very unusual for those who think that everything happens at lighting speed, and we should what's going on.

With Wendell's participation in the preseason, I'm not AT ALL surprised that Wendell is sitting out and that we know nothing about his illness or health. After all, we have a bye coming up, and no reason for Wendell to play.
==========
And yes, I do think that youth want instant information, and have little tolerance with not knowing. And yes, we old fogies have learned not to expect instant information, especially when we there is no reason/need to know.
=========
I also note that you think that it is insulting to call someone young.

Geez, you're right. I guess many of us have undersold Kline's contributions there on Sunday. He played every snap, either at LG or RG - - which makes it all the more impressive. That kind of versatile performance (against that front line of Buffalo) should definitely be credited more.

You're the only one bringing up the "lack of quick information" from BB angle - - no one else has. Evidently, this is bothering you a bit. No one else complained or even noted it.

The fact that it is listed as an "illness" and not an "injury" for the past two weeks is unusual.

That is something one does not see from any team, including BB's, very often. That is a FACT. Tell us what other time a Patriot player was listed for two weeks as inactive with an "Illness".

I was impressed with the OL pass blocking, I will be more impressed when I can see them run block and we have a run game we can depend on.

Didn't Lewis average over 5 ypc?

Granted, they didn't go to it often.

Infrequent and not on short yardage. Also, Lewis created lanes from nothing. A consistent running game--including Blount-- when we need it, is still to be determined. Alas, this may not be the week, but by Indianapolis we should know more.

...

Interior pressure might be a bit of an issue this Sunday.
At last, somebody on the board who hasn't put Sunday's game in the W column, but is treating it like a game against an NFL team with a good coach and some good young players...where anything can happen!
Thanks!

Kline started the opener and played in 4 of the 5 personnel groupings against Pittsburgh, so it shouldn't surprise us that it continued into the BUF game.

He has played well at the end of 2013 and started and played through 2 postseason games this calendar year. It seems obvious that he isn't nearly as "bad" as what's been suggested by the majority of this forum.

Thanks for pointing out the snap count. That is certainly impressive.

Always. It's as if some don't remember the competitiveness of NFL football.

While we all likely expect NE to win by 10+, it is certainly far from a sure thing. We all had this same discussion in 2012 when we squeaked out a 7 point win.

I think Wendy has fallen into BB's bucket of, "There is always room for guys like ____ on your team."

For vets that have reached that level of respect that BB reserves for the very few but won't cut because of the value they bring in the locker room and other areas, Wendy just might be in that company now.

Wendy is in "break glass in case of emergency status now".

If not, I'm calling Hank Phillipe Ryan to investigate.

What kind of illness does Wendell have? Not too many that can sideline you for several weeks

The clap? Just kidding.
