Welker could miss homecoming with concussion

I watched a ton of football yesterday, Red Zone + the feature games......IMHO, the refs have backed off the PI calls in a big way and Ty Law would once again thrive. The hand checking, tugging, clutching, impeding was a part of every pass defense. A few ticky tack calls....a couple of phantom calls.....but for the most part, the refs are letting the DBs be physical all the way down the field. The Talib/D Thomas matchup should be intense......but I'm a little nervous who covers Decker and the TE.

I'd agree except for the SNF matchup. I thought the flags were flying to the point where players needed to take cover. I went to bed at the half, and it may have changed in the second half, but Welker and Bowe got a lot of calls in the first half.

If Danny Amendola lines up for the Patriots and Wes Welker misses for the Broncos I admit, I'll laugh at great length.

Amendola missed a bunch of games earlier in the season, and he's probably not going to be 100% at any point in the rest of the season. Welker might miss one game, which would be his first in the last 3 seasons. There's nothing there to laugh about.

On the other hand, while I never wish injury upon a player, I'm quite comfortable in hoping that WWW takes his time getting better. A week off certainly won't hurt him moving forward, so I'm all for him sitting out the Patriots game in order for him to be healthy for a divisional opponent the following week.

I'm one of Welker's biggest supporters but the knocks on Amendola since he came here have been completely uncalled for. he's a really tough really talented player who will be a major contributor if he stays healthy.

I don’t disagree with that, Amendola is a very talented player and has had some unfortunate luck in terms of injuries. My only point is that Welker is very crafty at avoiding hits or putting himself in good position to control how he takes the hit, of all the players to ever play in the NFL Welker is likely one of the best at that, Amendola is not at that level maybe it can be taught and developed in time. That is not as much a slight on Amendola as it is recognition of how great Welker is at that aspect of the game.

I will admit I was hard on Amendola early in the season, I am happy to see him back on the field and was very impressed with his performance 2 weeks ago, I very much look forward to a big second half by Danny.

I agree with you in the hope that he misses the game; I enjoy watching Welker play the game but given the health of Talib, Dennard and Arrington being questionable at this juncture in the season I will gladly avoid the matchup of Welker vs. Cole.

When the game starts I am going to give WWW a standing ovation for his efforts in New England.

I hope he's in Denver while I do it.

I gave Wax MANY standing ovations when he was playing here. He won't get another from me while wearing Denver's colors.

The early weather says low 20's and winds gusting to over 20 MPH. Those aren't conditions that Manning has done well in historically and without WW that will be even harder. I hope the weather idiots are right for once and yes it's way too early to project.

I never understood the point of applauding ex players still in their prime who left for more money.

That's like giving your ex girlfriend a hug for all the great times you had after she dumped you.

Welker dumped the pats for more money.

Well then I am going to give him TWO standing o's, one from you. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Just be careful, because some drunk Pats fan might think you're cheering for Denver.

I don't think there is such a thing as being better At that unless you are talking about running out of bounds, and I'm not sure how much you watched Welker because he took the worst beating of any player i have ever seen, he just has an unusual ability to take massive hits and get back up, and it may be that he's running out of that ability because the hit that he got the concussion on last night was nothing compared to shots he has taken in the past. Bottom line, injuries are only a players fault oif they are out of shape and that leads to the actual injury, when they come from contact and getting your head taken off they are not the players fault in any way and should never be treated as though they are.

The only ex patriot i applauded after they left for more money was Ty LAW. That's because Ty law was ******* awesome despite signing with jets (TWICE)

Complete crap, as usual.

He takes a beating because he is always playing in traffic but if you watch how he takes a hit or how he can make a minor adjustment to avoid a potentially catastrophic impact to his body he is actually very nifty at it. I used to watch in awe when I would see him heading for what I thought would be a brutal hit and then at the last second he could avoid the full brunt of it.

How is that crap? Patriots offered 10 million and broncos offered 12. THAT'S MORE MONEY!
Welker wanted a more ensured contract that didn't rely on his overall performance in his later years like what the pats offered

I have been playing nice with you fans here because we both love the same team.

You have to keep in mind that all players careers end at some point and I don't think we should fault Belichick for attempting to control the end date from a Patriots perspective.

Tom brady may be the only great patriot drafted player that will retire a pat. And that's a big Maybe.

A tough decision will be made about wilfork soon.

Good, good! if Welker miss the game than one less problem for us. His mere presence create positive matchup for the broncos. if the offense survive Carolina without injury, then i like our chances.

WW is an integral component on a team that stands in the way of the Pats winning another super bowl title. I won't shed a tear if he's unable to play next game or any other game moving forward.

Actually, he's not integral to the Broncos. They have plenty of playmakers on that team.
