DRAFT Welcome Caleb Lomu OT Utah

Preach Brother preach: remember that moron who was pimpin Wolf for GM of the year??
Who was that guy? Let me try to remember. LOL

Campbell had good games in 2025 vs teams whose DC didnt figure out how to attack him and get to Maye.

The 2026 season will be night and day different.

Nah! I think he was just slow because of his injury. He might not have been able to handle the better pass rushers in the playoffs, but it wouldn't have been the disaster it was.

Campbell was the first one to reach out said lomu during his post draft interview. Wolf affirmed Campbell is the starting LT. The only ones put on notice is Marcus Bryant and Wallace.. guys that will need to earn thier roster spot this camp!
Backup OL just got put on notice? The Pats 2026 1st round pick will sit out and wait for Moses to retire?

OK, HCs and GMs say lots of things, but all that is important is results in the NFL and when your Franchise QB is taking a beating out there changes are forthcoming.

His draft report spelled out every issue that happened vs DCs who kept pressure on him.

So, WC has a history of shaky play like being pushed into the QB to where the DL can get a hand on Maye. It always did not result in sack, but the ball got knocked out of Mayes hand causing a fumble or tipped at the LOS.

No. Moses is under contract and could retire possibly. So in that scenario lomu would be in line to be the starter no? Why would Campbell be on notice? He is the starting LT.. so by his superbowl performance determines his career trajectory? Ignoring his solid play prior to injury? And yes if lomu does aittjis season he is the 6th OL over byrant or Wallace so if anything they are put on notice not Campbell who's on the other side of the line In totally different position.

You dont use your 1st draft pick on a swing OT unless your OL is presently rock solid. That is not the Pats case at all. W.C. and Lomu will compete for LT this season and may the best man for the job win. RT is easy to find and LTs that struggle often switch to RT having much better results.
Doubt it, Lomu is only 21, he has time to get stronger with starters ahead of him.

You take him late in the first round because had he stayed in school he might have been a top five pick next offseason.

Like I told you earlier, they have their starters. They need to find depth, the starters of tomorrow and beyond.

Absolutely correct. 2027 starters:

LT Campbell
LG Vera-tucker
C Wilson
RG Ownenu
RT Moses

Campbell, vera Tucker and Wilson are absolutely stud athletes for OL

Just wanted to put this Nabers draft talk here. He was on a show and was dissecting the Arvell pick...like he has a good point but you don't say this type of stuff about a new teammate! I'll take a boring goofy interview everytime

Campbell's scouting reports said he was one of the most athletic tackles to ever come out of the draft yet he struggled to get outside and in position when an edge rusher lined up wide outside. Moving outside to pick up a wide outside rush was his bread and butter according to his scouting reports.

So no his draft report did not spell out why he struggled in the playoffs.

So they just signed Hudson to be a swing Tackle. Does that mean Bryant is gone?
I have a hard time thinking Lomu would actually step into LG - especially this year.
Curious.
Because I was really hoping for Faulk at 31. I wonder if we'll be moving up in the 2nd to try to get Howell or Parker?

Like I told you, the Pats do not have a # 1 WR to replace Diggs. Secondly, 1st round picks usually play and sometimes start in the NFL day 1. Teams that just lost the Super Bowl need improvement now and not backups.

They should take another guard in the next couple rounds, it wouldn't surprise me if they took one in round two... even though some "we need edge" heads would explode here.

Height, Moore or Howell should all be available to us at 63 provided we don't trade up/down.. edge most certainly needs to be addressed today! Like to also get a TE in the 3rd round too

AJ Brown already has his bag's packed.

You just haven't accepted it yet.

Lomu is a late first round pick going to the AFC champ, he's not going to some 5 win team who desperately needs him. Perspective is necessary here.

Scouting Report: Weaknesses

  • Below-average arm length for an NFL tackle could create issues against longer edge rushers who can get into his frame before he establishes position
  • Shows tendency to overset against speed rushers off the edge, creating vulnerability to inside counter moves that can compromise the pocket
  • Will occasionally narrow his base width through sustained blocks, causing his anchor to deteriorate against prolonged bull rushes
  • Can get caught playing with high pad level when working in space, particularly when targeting second-level defenders on outside zone plays
  • Displays some predictability in his punch timing that savvy NFL rushers could exploit, particularly when isolated on an island

Hudson's a jag.

There's more of a possibility that if Moses gets injured, Bryant is starting at right tackle because he's the vet.

Lomu could probably play, but they'll likely want him to watch and get stronger first. I could be completely wrong.

Thank you. So you admit that dealing with dealing with outside edge rushers that line up outside wasn't one of his weaknesses.

Did you read what you posted. None of these weaknesses are what I am saying is his strength. He is a very athletic OT who can get outside quickly to get to an edge rusher lining up outside. That isn't a second level defender. That isn't getting beat on the inside move. It isn't necessarily being isolated on an island. You can be isolated on an island with a defender lining up right on you.

Weaknesses

  • Struggles getting to his landmarks on lateral blocks.
  • Pad level and hand placement create leverage disadvantages.
  • Gets too far out over his skis and can be knocked off balance.
  • Protections marked by inconsistent footwork and body control.
  • Punch timing can be too mechanical and predictable.
  • Allows inside pressure due to oversets and early openings.
  • Struggles to redirect the rush when beaten on the edge.
  • Speed-to-power can bounce him into the pocket.
