Week 9 NFL Games & TV Maps: Dallas dominates yet again, w/ their 4th string QB

Here is a look at this week's TV Maps. Lo and behold, the primary afternoon game includes the Dallas Cowboys yet again. This is a team that arguably has the worst defense in the history of the NFL, and may be the only club that has a chance to out-suck the Jets to capture the number one pick of the 2021 draft. Despite this ineptitude, week after week networks continue to showcase the Cowboys for their broadcasts.

I get it that CBS only gets one or maybe two opportunities to broadcast one of their games each year and that Dallas is a large television market, but this matchup against the Steelers is pitiful. The Ben (as in benched) DiNucci era is over after going 21-40 for 180 yards, four sacks and two lost fumbles (one in the red zone, the other ran back for a TD) last week on what is supposedly the NFL's showcase, Sunday Night Football, against another unwatchable team, the Eagles. Now Mike McCarthy can't decide whether he should start his 4th string QB or 5th string QB: an undrafted QB from Central Michigan (Cooper Rush) with one career NFL completion - in 2017 - or Garrett Gilbert, the former (2014!) practice squad player who does have one more career NFL completion than Rush, and whose claim to fame is being a starter for the Orlando Apollos of the very short lived Alliance of American Football.

Why the NFL and CBS did not flex the Pittsburgh-Dallas game from 4:30 to 1:00, and shift the 5-2 Ravens vs 5-2 Colts game into the late slot is a head scratcher. Hype up the history that both franchises left their former fans with not so much as a Dear John letter, whatever.

At least we have a good matchup Thursday night.

Hat tip to our friends at 506 Sports for the TV Maps.

It’s because Pittsburgh and Dallas are two marquee franchises that each bring in a lot of viewers, no matter how bad each team may be at any given time. CBS only cares about ratings, not game quality, and this is the one which will get more eyeballs.

It'd too bad because Miami-Arizona is a pretty interesting game

Well if Pit-Dal is as lopsided as expected, and Mia-AZ stays close, they can always switch over to that game in the 3rd quarter or so....

A lot of AFC vs NFC Games this week.
'Good' games (both teams with winning records) are in bold. Six of those type of games (including Thursday night) is about double the norm for one week.

Early Games:
6-1 Seattle (-3) at 6-2 Buffalo
3-4 Denver at 2-6 Atlanta (-4)
5-3 Chicago at 5-2 Tennessee (-6½)
3-4 Detroit at 2-5 Minnesota (-4)
5-3 Baltimore (-1) at 5-2 Indianapolis
3-5 Carolina at 7-1 Kansas City (-10)
1-6 Houston (-7) at 1-6 Jacksonville
1-7 NY Giants at 2-5 Washington (-2½)

Late Games:
4-3 Las Vegas at 2-5 LA Chargers (pk)
8-0 Pittsburgh (-14½) at 2-6 Dallas
4-3 Miami at 5-2 Arizona (-5½)

Night Games:
5-2 New Orleans at 6-2 Tampa Bay (-4)
2-5 New England (-9½) at 0-8 NY Jets

Bye Week:
5-3 Cleveland, 2-5-1 Cincinnati; 3-4-1 Philadelphia; 5-3 LA Rams

Also Det @ Min is intriguing...Lions must win to stay in the the hunt

I cannot decide what game to watch. I consider to watch either Seattle at Buffalo or Ravens at Indy.

Didn’t see this reported here

Meanwhile Pats get hammered for two baby chipmunk farts of air pressure being missing from footballs...

Seems relevant to the Pats since the Ravens are in town next week.

Yeah, I just saw that Dez Bryant news. Didn't even realize he was back in the NFL.

I was wondering why Baltimore was only favored by one against the Colts. Turns out that all pro LT Ronnie Stanley, RG Tyre Phillips, RB Mark Ingram and all pro CB Marlon Humphrey are all out. Humphrey tested positive for covid-19, and as a result six other defensive players that had been in close contact had to quarantine and did not practice all week.

3 plays and the Bills have a TD

Bills up quickly 7-0 on Seattle.

Seahawks pass defense puts Cams numbers against them in a very different light than it did at the time.

Well they lost two safeties before halftime, but Seattles pass D is insanely bad.

hopefully Seattle can win today, we shall see..

Should be an interesting game. Probably the best team in a weak NFC against a 6-2 team in a stacked AFC. Can't stand Buffalo, so hoping Seattle will win this one

Blankenship makes PAT. Obligatory rip down of NE kickers, past & present.

That is all.

14-0 Bills. Allen already has 120 yards passing and the first quarter not even halfway over.

wow, Buffalo up very quickly by 2 scores

Seattle may actually get beat comfortably today
