An hour before NE selected Mac Jones at #15 in the draft, I posted this (paraphrase):

My NE source tells me their round 1 Plan A is Mac Jones and the team is willing to move up a couple slots for him. Their Plan B is Northwestern OT Rashawn Slater (selected #13 Chargers). And Penn State LB was removed from their draft board.

I mention this in this Chargers thread because from all reports Slater is a homerun OT

I will add that they have played 3 top 5 running attacks (#1 CLE, #2 DAL, #4 BAL)

And against KC they're obviously not keying in run stopping as the primary focus. Still, 5.4 is atrocious. So while they may not be as bad as it appears historically, they're vulnerable enough there that a good running team (which the Patriots have been the last two weeks) should have success against them.

Pff saying joejuan had a really good outing Sunday. Anybody pay attention to him or notice anything actually encouraging? I saw one nice breakup. I know it’s hard to not look good against that offense but I’ll take any good news I can out this secondary.

Chargers lousy run defense is a talent issue from what I've been seeing and that's not easily fixed but getting Jones back should help a bit.

Ya he obviously wasn't asked to do a whole lot against that offense, but from what I saw he played well. Would have had a good chance at an INT late in the 3rd if not for an uncalled OPI on Mims.

I think Williams is what he is at this point, which is a matchup specific (VERY specific) cover guy who, if he stays within the structure of the defense and isn't on an island. That's not the most inspiring way to describe a player, but if you're looking for where his value is this year, that's it. Unfortunately, if McCourty isn't ready to go by Sunday, you're probably using Bryant more in the deeper part of the field, which moves Mills to inside corner and then Williams is your guy on the outside. May not be the worst matchup for him, as he can at least match the height of the Chargers' receivers, but you need safety help for him against them all game long, which isn't ideal. We need safety help in the box against Ekeler as well. Hopefully McCourty can go this week.

• mauling people in the run game

He’s having a breakout season. Hopefully he can keep it up because he’s way more agile than his first stint with the team.

Yup, even when or if Brown comes back I’m not moving Onewenu from RT, send Brown to LT and bench Wynn.

If Wynn can string together games like he had against the Jets, I'm not even sure you bench him for Brown. In that scenario, I'd keep Brown as your top backup, unless Mason's injuries linger. Then I think you move Onwenu to RG, which I think would be far far easier than going from the right side of the line to the left. I think they would have put him there to start the year if they didn't have Mason. Then Brown can come in at RT. But honestly at this point, assuming the OL can continue its performance this week, I ride out Wynn-Karras-Andrews-Mason-Onwenu if for no other reason than continuity.
