The whole media and fan lynching of BB is kinda sad. Every coach needs a QB. Walsh was 2-14 before montana. knoll didnt do much without a hof QB either. BB didnt have QBs like brady until he got one and he won for 20 yrs. Its always the players and BB himself said it so many times. just because he isnt warm anf fuzzy like other coaches, this never comes out.
It's not just sad, it is insane. In 4 years, he took a a former 3-13 Browns team to 11-5 and a playoff victory and then the next year was in an impossible situation with the move. Using the team record for a coach on a rebuilding team is so stupid yet so commonly used to put him down.
If Belichick was not here, Brady is not here, if Belichick did not decide to replace Bledsoe with Brady and had traded Brady due to Bledsoe being the large contracted and established QB you could say something. Without Belichick there is no Patriots with Brady.
Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning etc.. were all pretty close to Brady level, without Belichick how many did they win? How many would they have won with Belichick? I would so many more!
He's failed at this rebuild, 4 years in they are bad. The mistake was somehow going 7-9 with Cam Newton, going 10-7 with a rookie QB. After those 2 seasons, everyone would agree he was doing a phenomenal job record wise 2 years post Brady. I mean during a rebuild they were in the playoffs 2 years later!
But he should have let the team get bad for a couple seasons first and then do the rebuild, instead he could not fully rebuild and get a franchise QB so it inevitably crashed.
Then the disaster in terms of the offensive coaching decision last year and this year's lack of attention to offense were huge mistakes. Mistakes that probably should get him fired because perhaps he's not the same innovator he used to be and perhaps, like all the greats, he is past his prime. Now there is a 3-4 year rebuild coming, do you want new blood for that? I would think so but let's not act like his record without Brady, where up until the last 2 years he outperformed most of those years, is some ultimate decision maker on Brady vs Belichick. It was both, but it would not have happened without Belichick drafting, developing and playing Brady.
