Pats 5.5 point favorites at home. Our first look at Bryce Young.

Young only 16/24 and 5.0 YPA in a 30-0 win... dunno what to make of that. Sounds like a game manager type of game.

Don't turn the ball over, don't self-sabotage with penalties and they should win this one.

It’s an odd defense.

Most receiving yards allowed to TEs
Third worst yards per rush allowed
Lowest run stuff rate
Third worst pressure rate
One sack

But also the fewest receiving yards to WRs, fewest passing TDs allowed, and 8th best scoring defense overall after their shutout this past weekend.

Through two weeks (should get update tonight), they played the second most zone and specifically the second most Cover 3. Schematically, similar to the Raiders except with much better CBs and no pass rusher anywhere near the level of Crosby. Pats legend Michael Jackson looks like he might finally be having his breakout in year 7.

Xavier Leggette is injured so we can rest Gono another week: just double King Tet.

Two TE sets should be good A Hooper was coming on last game.

I went into the season thinking Carolina was one of the five worst team's in the NFL. Living in the Tampa area I get to see the Panthers on local tv a few times every year, as they are in the same division as the Bucs. They have been awful for several years.

But when I first saw the 30-0 score I initially became concerned about this week's game.

However, we all know that division games can be really tough due to the familiarity of the opponent. Watching highlights and reading about last week's game, it appears to be more Atlanta self-destructing on the road than Carolina suddenly becoming a club that blows other teams out.

On offense Bryce Young was mediocre, averaging 4.6 yards per pass for 114 yards. Their offense for the last few years goes through their running back, Hubard. Focus on shutting him down and put Young in third and longs. They only have one legitimate receiver, Tet McMillan. it would be nice if Gonzalez is able to return this week, even if it is on a limited pitch count. The points scored is skewed by Penix'x horrific day (18-36, 2 int, a pick-six) and the Falcons turning the ball over three times.

On the other hand their defense - worst in the NFL last year - has somewhat improved. The additions of LB Christian Rozeboom, S Tre’von Moehrig, and other FA's has helped. That said, Atlanta was still able to move the ball; they just kept turning the ball over, or Parker Romo missing field goals. Let's not forget Jacksonville scored 26 against them in week one, and Arizona scored 27 in week two.

If the Patriots can limit the turnovers the way they did in the first two games, then the Pats will be fine and win. As long as the Patriots don't self destruct this should be a win.

Had Carolina game circled on the calender as a win . Wonder if Panther fans did the same for the Pats?

Just don't play the Panthers the way we played the Steelers

We have no identity @ Home: our record is pretty horrible. We're just the Team that keeps Carolina in a game we should blow them out. But you never know with this Team: let's just hope it's not another cardiac game.

Or don't play Rham can't get how he lost the football twice on routine Tackles.

I think towards the end of the year there was a little bit of hope in Carolina. Young was playing a little better. They are 1-2 right now just like us and I think they feel this game is as critical to them as we feel it is to us. Whichever one of us falls to 1-3 is going to feel like here we go again. And getting to 2-2 will feel like we actually have a season ahead of us.

Absolute must win.
Bryce Young stinks. Defense is OK. Penix is not an NFL starting QB so that helped them a ton last week.
Maye vs Young? SHOULD be a blow out.
Faith in this team not shooting itself in the foot over and over is not high.
As 5.5 point favorites at home coming off of a tough loss they need to come out fast and prove they can play good winning football.
Gonzalez needs to be back and get his feet wet, play 20 plays, whatever.

Three home wins since start of 2023 season.

Would love to see a mistake free game from Drake Maye...take the sack no egregious pick. Regarding RZ opportunities: we would love 7 but when all else fails take the 3: don't take points off the scoreboard: or leave valuable points on the field.

This is why I don't like going for it so much on 4th down. I know it worked on Sunday (we converted them all until Pop ran the wrong way) but it still sends a message that we're pressing. How's Maye expected to have that attitude of settling for the FG when his coach is being so aggressive?

Ideally it sends the message that coaches have faith in your abilities and are behind you by sending you out for a must have play but I don't think it's as simple as that.

Think the Pats come out firing and respond well, they know they let one slip away, won’t happen again this week. 2-2 heading into Buffalo for a Sunday night showdown.

Gonzo will be back this week I’m confident.

Yeah what Vrabel did deep in our own territory was very Madden like: going on Fourth Down. That's not conventional Football: let's hope we don't see another play like that for a very long time. It worked against a bad Steeler Team: but it won't against some of the better Teams.

That would be nice.
