it was a greeat game...but it puts to rest the Tampa Bay victory in the Super bowl was a fluke ..or an off day. Brady and Co. tore them a new pooper and a circus clown QB doing circus flips beat them tonight like he was playing NOBODY

That defense is pathetic. No injuries/reshuffling excuses for the Super Bowl there.

They put up 173 against the Patriots last season, in a losing effort. Running is what they do.

I know the KC defense is not good. But given all the injuries to Baltimore, I didn't think they would have the horses to win tonight. But I forgot how tight Reid's ******* puckers late in games.

KC has to figure it out on defense or this will be a long season for them. They are Fumble and punt brain fart away from being 0-2. Albeit to two good football teams. But these are the teams they will have to beat in January.

@condon84 - What are you disagreeing with regarding the 49ers RB injury woes? Hasty, Mitchell, and Sermon all went down with injury at one point tonight though Mitchell came back in the 4h quarter. They had to use Trenton Cannon, whom they just signed and activated for a play.. gain of -2.

Or are you saying they didn't lose 4 RBs to IR last year:

JaMycal Hasty - 3 Games on IR
Jeff Wilson - 6 games on IR
Raheem Mostert - 6 games on IR

Only Jerick McKinnon didn't spend time on the IR last year.. This is the 2nd year in a row they'll have had to use 5 RBs. And no, I'm not including Kyle Juszczyk as a RB since he doesn't get more than a 17 carries.

Is there honestly any such thing in this league anymore? Defenses can't stack up four or even three pure run stoppers anymore even on 1st and second down given the rash of three WR or two "TE" (many glorified larger bodied WRs) sets mandating at least one (if not two) extra DB or lighter coverage LB on the field at all times.

Add to that the DL guys that can legitimately do both run defense AND pass rushing you have to get in the top 10 picks or pay a King's Ransom for where that money legitimately needs to go to your QB, WR/TE and CB. What's left is pass defense defenses with "specialist" run defenders that can be obtained in the 2-3d draft round (or later) or for mid-level money.

That's why having a true NT like Vita Vea is so valuable. He can stop the run, collapse the pocket, pressure the QB, deflect passes, oh and play FB when needed. Lol

Are the 49ers supposed to ask teams to take it easy on their their RBs?

That's why having a true NT like Vita Vea is so valuable.

And how many come out in the draft with that skill set? 1 every couple years that is a "true" NT but can ALSO rush the passer?

Last one we had was Wilfork which was a #21 pick (this team hasn't had many #21 pick opportunities).

The Patriots cant have unicorns at every position, and the rest of the league is similarly challenged to try and obtain them making it even harder.

Week 1 can probably be explained away by Mathieu’s absence. Week 2 cannot. Chris Jones was simply a non-factor last night and they need him to beast in order to be anything more than putrid.
