NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 2 "Other Games" Thread

The Dolphins needed to take seriously that first concussion he had a few years ago. Rushed him back for a quick Thursday Night turnaround and got his brains scrambled again. Mike McDaniel talked flippantly that Tua was enjoying a movie on the plane so he wasn’t worried about the concussion. Since then it’s been a matter of time in my book before a concussion would cost Tua his career.

I am sick of the Bills ruling the AFC East but now it's pretty much a sure thing . Miami won't win much without Tua !
Hope Tua is okay , hate seeing that on anyone.

So Tua gets a $212M contract, then proceeds to play exactly 1 game before ending his career permanently in the next game?

Sounds about right for the Dolphins.

Sucks for Tua though. At least he got his contract. Dolphins will be ****ed with nothing to show for it.
Yeah ... guaranteed 167 million ...

Dolphins/NFL going to look horrible if Tua comes back and suffers another serious head injury, they won't be able to act like it wasn't blatantly obvious it was building up to that.

Everyone can see it coming, his resistance to taking hits is gone and he's getting some of the worst visible concussion symptoms you'll see and it's happening multiple times a season now.

That's at least 3 times i've watched his hands go stiff and him suffer muscle spasms live on the field after a hit from games i've been watching live.

Von Miller is a machine ... unreal at his age.

The NFL needs to get involved and ensure Tua out there any time soon.

Screw the money and prospects of a playoff run. This dude's life is more important.

I'm no Dolphins fan at all. But on a human level, I feel terrible for a guy who is only 26.

Papa would love Shedeur in Miami

So after “Tanking for Tua”, getting Tua, then discovering he’s not that great, but still paying him like a top 5 QB anyway, then having his career end immediately afterwards, they will revert back to form and “Suck for Shedeur” so they can have a cheap QB for a few years while still paying big bucks for the last QB who can’t actually play anymore

Why was tua not wearing a guardian cap?

That's a good question. Seems like not taking every precaution is right in line with his diving head first though.

Tannehill?

On the surface it seems like they might have the cap room this year to bring him in but they're $16M over for next year with just what they have on their books right now. Comes down to what he'd take and how creative they get. They're in no position to just tack on void years so the business side of bringing in a 'name' QB will be almost as interesting who.

This is why I look at any scouting report in the draft and red flag it if it says "must learn how to slide". QBs don't get to take plays off to recover like RBs. You gotta be smart with your head and life on the line out there.

Hypothetically, if Tua isn’t cleared to play again then the Dolphins owe him $124M in remaining full and injury-only guarantees over the next three seasons. That’s on top of the $42M signing bonus they just paid him, 80% of which still needs to hit the cap. I’m not sure how in the world they’d navigate that.

I turned the game off but just saw the news.. Hoping he's alright for sure

On a lighter note... This funny comment from a reddit dolphins fan:

"Once again I'd like to curse Jim Carrey, Dan Marino, and my father for saddling me with 35 years of Fandom with this team when I grew up in ****ing Massachusetts in the 2000s."
