Why would the Bills forfeit? It's the same situation for both teams.
Because the Bengals are winning. Why would they accept a cancellation?

Please, for the love of God, ESPN should not play this ad going into a commercial break…

ER doctor here.

What happened was almost certainly Commotio cordis, where an impact on a precise portion of the electric impulse of the heart induces ventricular fibrillation, which is a pulseless rhythm that is amenable to shock. He got CPR right away which reduces the risk of anoxic brain injury. He will now be in a medically induced coma and have his core body temperature reduced to reduce brain swelling and if all goes well, could be taken off the ventilator within days. Not much more can be learned tonight about his condition unfortunately.
What do you think caused this to happen?

Yeah trying not to inconvenience someone = being on the spectrum

So many weird-as-hell reactions to this on Twitter popping up on the sidebar...

English please? So he lives but can't feed himself?
When you’re pulseless, blood isn’t flowing to the brain, and as a result your brain isn’t getting oxygen. When your brain isn’t getting oxygen, your brain cells die. Sounds like they were able to initiate CPR fairly quickly, so that should help, but always the big concern after a cardiac arrest event is how bad the brain injury is. The ICU will assess his brain function over the next 48 hours. In general outcomes for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest are very bad. Outcomes can range from brain death to living in vegetative state to functional recovery.

With that being said, I’m an anesthesiologist, so the cardiac arrest events I typically deal with in the OR are very different than a cardiac arrest occurring out of hospital. There seems to be an Emergency Medicine doc here, who would be more familiar with the out-of-hositpail cardiac arrests than me; he seems to have more optimistic outlook than I.

The game is officially suspended this evening. They will figure out what to do tomorrow

Suspended

Goodell doing the right thing. Amazing.

Jesus a man damn near died on the field grow a soul
I'm pretty sure that's what drtbks was saying. You have people who AREN'T doing that.

************, like anyone's gonna hold a 7-3 deficit in the first quarter against a team who had a player collapse.

Luckily the bengals coach and team seem much more considerate than you lol. Neither team will cancel it will just be moved and they should play from the same score and clock.

If the convo goes « football » : this game is purely seeding, correct ? Both teams are going to the playoffs. BUF will be #1. CLE can win their division by winning next week.

So the game isn’t even that impactful in terms of the season it would seem.

Maybe I’m missing something.

Thank you! I've said this a couple times on here before, but nobody else seemed to be bothered by it.

Per report:

Intubated, in the hospital, in critical condition
