What happened was almost certainly Commotio cordis, where an impact on a precise portion of the electric impulse of the heart induces ventricular fibrillation, which is a pulseless rhythm that is amenable to shock. He got CPR right away which reduces the risk of anoxic brain injury. He will now be in a medically induced coma and have his core body temperature reduced to reduce brain swelling and if all goes well, could be taken off the ventilator within days. Not much more can be learned tonight about his condition unfortunately.

The biggest concern right now is neurological function even if he now has a pulse. Unfortunately, if he was down for 20 minutes without a pulse, he mostly likely has a massive brain ischemic injury from lack of oxygen going to his brain during the time he was pulseless.

But I am wavering a bit. There seems to be a lot of pressure from players, former players, etc to cancel the game. Goodell, having no backbone, may ironically fold into the right decision.

They could go on with the game, each team taking the "Play for him" mentality.

They could postpone to tomorrow night - each team will have the updates / time to deal (not much).

They could call it a tie, and damn the seeding.

All are valid, but the call should come from the teams, not NYFL.

It would have to be a forfeit I would think. Can't imagine them being ready to play tomorrow either. And being it is what it is, this game needs an outcome and changing up the logistics of next week. This is really ****ed up.

Ideally: they receive news that he's doing well/stable condition within the next hour. I think that's enough of a 'sigh of relief' to continue tonight. If that same good news happens beyond an hour from now, they'll likely play the game tomorrow night instead, and the games impacted next week such as Pats/Bills and Bengals/whoever, get pushed to either Monday, or Sunday night.

If he dies? Oh boy, that's tough. Definitely not tomorrow. I'd push everything back by a week. Giving Buffalo an L due to it just doesn't seem right either.

Just to repeat: You've got a lot on your plate. People like myself, who have someone on ignore, can just go out to the "Forums" level and refresh until the thread started by the ignored person comes up. It's a pain in the ass, but that's a pain in the ass for us, who made the decision, not for you, who'd have to do extra work to incorporate the functionality. So please don't put yourself out on my account.
