I can’t see the future, but it’d be a stunner if the Jets improve anytime soon. As mentioned by other posters, « good D » is a calling card but it doesn’t help them in the standings…

Perspective helps. It's worth noting the Jete have the same OC and system from last season for their second-year quarterback chosen No. 2 overall in 2021. And despite performing poorly in a new system under an incompetent new OC, Mac Jones -- taken No. 15 in the same draft -- has outplayed him.

As bad as Mac has looked at times this year, he’s still looked better than the QBs taken at #2 (Wilson) and #3 (Lance) overall in the same class, who both benefit from continuity offensively. Justin Fields has had his ups and downs. Only Trevor Lawrence at #1 overall is clearly better. Supposedly that was a star studded QB class.

Agree but in fairness we don't yet know what Lance is since he only played one game and got injured on the 2nd drive of the second one.

During the few minutes of the Jaguars being unable to stop the Streveler offense (until they did stop it), I realized that Malcom Brown never signed anywhere after being released by the Jags in August. I believe he still made $3M guaranteed salary, so it may be as simple as that he didn’t want to play for free but intends to play next season when there’s no guaranteed money to offset.

They’re a QB from being playoff bound. They may ask about Zappe, an even more productive Western Kentucky product than the guy they had who got hurt.

As poorly as Mac has played this year, if he was on the Jets starting all year and playing no better than he's been playing, they would make the playoffs. As has been demonstrated amply in the past few weeks, at least Mac can hit a screen pass.

I think being unable to mentally grasp the position for the entirety of year 1, and then getting injured so quickly in year 2 because he had to be used as a running back first on an offense so stacked that Brock Purdy looks awesome in it... I think that tells us a lot about who Lance is. Even if he starts next year and looks good as a QB, I wouldn't feel confident in him playing a full season + playoffs.
