Week 13 Injury Updates

Easley retweeted a few pictures of the SI cover with him being held. Probably has nothing to do with his absence, but it isn't -inconceivable- that, given all the hooplah this week about Gronk and his injury and the OPI, BB decided Easley had his foot soldier moment...

I read an article about this and they said during a rip move a lineman is allowed to hold like that. What are they talking about?
See #9 below:
Blocking Notes:
  1. When a defensive player is held by an offensive player during the following situations, Offensive Holding will not be called:
    1. if the runner is being tackled simultaneously by another defensive player
    2. if the runner simultaneously goes out of bounds
    3. if a Fair Catch is made simultaneously
    4. if the action clearly occurs after a forward pass has been thrown to a receiver beyond the line of scrimmage
    5. if the action occurs away from the point of attack and not within close line play
    6. if a free kick results in a touchback
    7. if a scrimmage kick simultaneously becomes a touchback
    8. if the action is part of a double-team block, unless the defender splits the double team, gets to the outside of either blocker, or is taken to the ground
    9. if, during a defensive charge, a defensive player uses a “rip” technique that puts an offensive player in a position that would normally be holding

so hightower's out there with a sprained mcl???
and no gronk...just odd

Florio said it was blatant holding.
I'm still shaking my head at Shaq's. He had his freaking hands under the DL's pads.

I've never played OL but my understanding is that is how you are taught.

Thanks Mack. I thought it was a hold when I saw it but based on this "rip" move, is it allowed then? I don't even know what exactly is a rip move unless he's going to rip the ball away.
It looks like a hold in the photo but this can be misleading (no hold) if following a rip move as per step 3 in video:

Thanks. Now I know what a rip move is and know what the lineman is allowed to do. I also know he can't have his arm around someone's throat to prevent the defender from getting to the QB. It's a definite hold.

I know injuries have been rough for this season but so far we've been rather fortunate in terms of ir. Seems like most of the injured should be back soon or def by playoff time. Gronk dodged a major bullet too.

So far iirc solder is the only major piece on ir. Brown and Roberts could have helped bur both still quite unproven here. Hopefully the Las 5 weeeks go well for us but right now I like our situation.

I would count Lewis on the important list too.

Aside from the potential holding of Easley on the SI cover, there was a major hands to the face from the Broncos o-lineman that wasn't called. Say what you want about the holding but there is no disputing the major hands to the face that they didn't call.

Would be freakin' fantastic if High could come back quickly. He means so much to this defense along with Collins. Having them both back in a week or two would mean the defense would stay very strong and support the offense while it is without Edelman and Gronkowski.

Now Easley?!?!? WTF?!?!
Wouldn't like Easley being out for time but the good news would be we do have strong depth in that position with Brown stepping up in recent weeks.

So Collins, Hightower, and Amendola practiced today... That's huuuuuuuuuge.

I bet Easley will be back tomorrow.

Think we could get them to all play this week?
